I am a new mom and want to start running again. Anyone use a good baby stroller and have brands they like?
I have the BOB stroller and REALLY REALLY like it. It’s light for a jogger, it folds easily, it’s easy to maintain, it’s narrow so it’ll fit through doors etc. It also has a GREAT weather shield, which really covers the cockpit very well and keeps them protected from rain and wind.
If it gets cold where you are, I’d also recommend the Nano bag or the larger version, the Gaga bag. It’s wind resistant and zips all the way up to your kid’s chin, so it keeps them nice & toasty. I ran this winter in 20 degree weather with my son all bundled up in his Gaga bag under the weather shield and he slept the entire duration of a 90 minute long run without any protest.
We used to stock the Baby Jogger strollers in the store but don’t anymore. They’re heavier, harder to fold, less maneuverable, and more expensive.

I also have a Bob (like Lee above), the Ironman model b/c it is the lightest and has the slickest tires. The #1 reason I got the Bob is that it folds easily and compactly. You can fold it up with one hand while holding the baby in your arms, the other moldels that were suggested to me (BabyJogger and Cool Stride) both take a little more time and effort to fold and don’t fold down as small. If you don’t have a lot of storage space or will be driving to running routes then the Bob is the best option.
Also, may will tell you that you need to get a stroller with 20in wheels but I have had not problems with the 16in on the Bob, it rolls well and has suspension to smooth out the ride.

the baby joggers are ultra light but a little pricey for their features, the store I work at sells both baby jogger and dreamer design strollers. The new dreamer designs are really nice, two handed folding though but it’s easy as you just hold the main handle and pull these two triggers and it folds up in a jiff, much easier than the older models. New dreamers have really nice features with tons of pockets, a nicely padded child seat area and new padded harness. Plus the handle is height adjustable which is a huge feature for some people. Dreamer also includes a full rain canopy at no xtra cost and their prices are very competitive.
I have read good things about the BOB strollers. We are in the process of looking as well. There is a good website www.joggingstroller.com. If you aren’t budget constrained there is a great canadian manufacturer at www.chariotcarriers.com. They make the perfect triathlete stroller. Use as a bike trailer, switch to a jogging stroller and back again without taking the baby out or disturbing them. I have looked at them and they seem realyl good but will cost you about US$500 by the time you get the attachments.
