What are the IM awards banquets like? I mean, I’ve heard the the one after Kona is great, but what about IM WIS? I was thinking that it would be fun to kind of close out the weekend with the banquet, but $25 for each extra ticket seems a little high.
And what about the food? The thing starts at 11:30 am, so I’m assuming it’s some kind of brunch? Is it a buffet? Is the food any good?

I didn’t think the Moo banquet was all that special. It was fun, but I was still on my high from finishing. They did hand out race DVDs, which was a nice memento.
well, not $25 special imho. can’t comment on the food as both times i’ve not been feeling all that well and the smell made me nauseous. it is buffet, but it wasn’t brunch type food.

Lake Placid food this year was pretty bad. The speeches and what not were ok. Post race movie was pretty good. Not sure I would go again though.
I say spend the money and go. Your ticket is already paid for and you both gotta eat. $25.00 is no more than you would spend for a meal out. What you get though is a chance to share the experience one more time with all the other athletes. Its a nice way to finish off your trip and picking up the DVD is worth it.

BTW. The Kona awards are pretty much the same as all the others I’ve been to, just in a nicer setting.
IM Kona awards banquet is great??? we skipped it last year and went somewhere else, can’t remember where. It’s fun I guess but after going once it just doesn’t seem worth it especially if you can’t find your friends in the sea of people. Bad planning on my part but never had much fun.
Now Xterra banquets are the best. Xterra Maui, two awesome dinners, one with a great video of the race and lots of crash bloopers. Ad in a Halloween party afterwards and you have the best race around period!
