Austin, TX: Best place to lap swim?

Looking to find a pool where I can rent a lane and lead a Masters Class. Any pool suggestions? TIA!

Typically, most pools won’t let you rent just a lane. They’ll want a commitment to somewhere between 4-6 lanes. Austin will be fairly tough. There are a lot of swim teams and coaches already and not a lot of pool space.

The only possibility I can think of are the city pools (Big Stacy, Deep Eddy, etc) which may allow that. All the other pools are part of private clubs or schools that have masters programmes already in place.

It would take some time and, as my mom would say, gumption, but consider looking up the pools that appear on Swimmers Guide, and contacting them with your inquiry.
There may be facilities with no Masters programs, who just don’t have the staffing or energy to get one going.

I am in San Marcos, just south of Austin. Honestly, I gave up on trying to gain pool access. started river swimming. found out that I love it. Kyle , also just south of austin, is building a huge swim complex, should be open late 2022. i think Nytro’s website has info.

I don’t know of any place where it’s advertised that you can rent out a bunch of lanes, but some places to try are below, where I know they either have a master’s program or sometimes allow small groups to drop in on off times. I would be skeptical, however, of them accommodating a bunch of non-members for a one-off thing.

Austin Aquatics and Sports Academy: http://aasa-atx.com/
Nitro: https://www.nitroswim.com/ (several locations) might be amenable to a group if not in conflict with their normal schedule
Austin YMCA: https://www.austinymca.org/ (multiple locations) – I know there is small team that sometimes drops in at the Southwest Y very early mornings.
Westlake Aquatics (this place just opened): https://www.teamunify.com/team/stwaf/page/home

there are several public pools that you can show up to and pay the use fee, but I really don’t think they’ll allow for an organized event:

Currently Deep Eddy pool is closed until Apr 24th, and Barton Springs has a reduced schedule due to lack of lifeguards.

There is also the University of Texas pool (https://www.tsc.utexas.edu/), which has a master’s program, a couple Lifetime Fitness locations, etc that might work with you, but I know Lifetime has a pretty strict ‘no outside instruction/training’ policy, at least when I was a member there.

Two others I thought of right before I hit ‘post’:
Circle C swim center: https://circlecranch.com/amenities/circle-c-aquatics/
Lakeway swim center (I know they allow some summer camps to drop in once a week): https://www.lakeway-tx.gov/84/Swim-Center

Per docdave1, here’s the press release about the aquatic center in Kyle. Which, according to the headliner, has been named the “Pie Capital of Texas,” in case you’re hungry after swim workout.
