Does anyone in the Austin area know of some good sports doctors? I would like to change my primary care physician to someone who has some background with athletes. I am also looking for a good sports orthopedist in the area.

A lot of us in Austin see Dr. Ted Spears. He is really good for sports related injuries.

He and my physical therapist are friends from rock climbing so he’s into sports. He isn’t a sports specific doctor, just a general practioner, but he hasn’t ever told me anything like “Well, it hurts when you run, you should stop running.” Great guy, too.
I’ve heard mixed things about Dr. Spears.

I’m not sure exactly what your needs are, but they work with a lot of the top dogs in town, volunteer at a lot of the local tri’s and at Ironman events, and have fixed my random issues.
