Austin Bike Shop recommendations

I was hoping to get some input on good bike shops in Austin TX. I’m not at all familiar with the area, but a friend is looking for a road bike in the $1500 range. So any recommendations on shops with excellent customer service and a good selection of bikes would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Brian

We have two tri shops and several bike shops. Within a 2 mi radius you can hit Jack & Adam’s, Austin Tri-Cyclist and Bicycle Sports Shop.

Look no further than Austin Tri Cyclist for some pretty sweet rides.
They post here quite often.

This should be fun…

Austin Tri Cyclist is one of the finer shops in town and their bikes don’t smell like extra crispy.

Jack and Adams is moving soon. I am not sure when were but the two shops are practically neighbors

There are many rode shops as well.

you just had to go there, didn’t ya??

J&A’s is moving the weekend of Christmas. then it will be 3 shops within 1/2 mi of each other.

how’d the cx race go on Sunday?

He sucked and cried like a little girl.

Jack and Adam’s would be where I would start off.

Jack and Adams. They are the best! Big kudos to them on customer service. I’d always gone to Austin Tri Cyclist and was never happy–they’re a bunch of elitist snobs if you ask me. Always act so “high & mighty”. I recently went to Jack and Adams for a new power fit on my bike. I was a great experience. Everyone in there is so willing to help, answer questions, help you find stuff, etc. and are just nice guys. They really know their stuff too. I for one, won’t go back to ATC now. Jack and Adams rocks.

What’s a “power fit” ? sounds interesting.

Do you know precisely where Jacks and Adam’s will be located? I will be around the area in December 20-23 and will need to buy some tri stuff in that area.

Thanks,

Sergio

Yup I am bad like that.

Sunday was a blast but cold. I was hung over from drinking all night at the Roller Girls. A guy can’t pass up $3.00 24 oz Lone Star.

It’s on Barton Springs Rd. Next to Chuy’s. Chuy’s is the place where the Bush twins got busted for trying to buy booze while still under 21.

Tell your mom to stop calling me
.

Dude- You’re an idiot. They were 16 oz. Lone Stars and that’s your mom calling you. That’s just sick if you ask me. But you are from Oklahoma, so that does make some sense.

You still owe me $20.00

How them lobsta’s treating you these days.

Not as good as those sheep are treating you.

Here’s my take, I’ve been to both shops:

  • Austin Tri-Cyclist is a big shop and it’s got a lot of selection. When I was there they gave me some free stuff so I can’t tell you that the owner is a bit cuckoo even though he is seen as a god around there in a Colonel Kurtz sort of way.

  • Jack&Adams is a smaller shop but they do have hot women on the side of the road advertizing for free bike washes at the end of the Saturday ride. Never underestimate the power of hot women.

Got it. Thanks for the info.

I recommend Acadamy. Their cycling expertise and product selection is first-rate. Convenient locations throughout town. Their prices are easy on the wallet too.

You said road bike? My recommendation on bicycle sport shop (located on barton springs and lamar). Great service, and a HUGE store make it my favorite shop in town.

Moving down the road on Barton Springs. From 1800 to 1210.
