from IM Live:
"Our top age-group athlete!
Mark Van Akkeren, a 25-year-old “French Pastry Quality Control Tester” from Austin Texas, is our age-group men’s leader.
He’s decked out in Tyr clothing … which is why our spotter Wendy Ingraham is taking careful notice!

Not that it’s any surprise that he’s in front. I hope his heel holds out so he can have a solid run.
It’s a surprise to me…I’m from Texas and I’ve never heard of this guy??? But good luck to him nonetheless. A better question to answer is “where’s Bonney?”
Mark’s got the chicken legs, I’m sure he can run!
GO MARK!
Speaking of Lubbock, you seen any prelim’s for BSLT?
nope. thought about going but the achille wasn’t ready yet.
Vifian was racing there so I am fairly sure he won. maybe under 4h
mark’s made a “splash” in the last few years. He was a very good swimmer at UT, hence the “first out of the water”.
Bonney had a good swim - 48:xx, but no nothing on the updates. There is a pic of him on the bike in the photos.
Seen where your buddy Bobby won the Sprint…that guy still tearing it up at his age. I remember getting passed by Marcel on the run @ HalfMax 2 yrs. ago. He flew by me going up-hill like I was standing still. Wait, I was standing still!
not a surprise to hear Bobby won…He is still pretty fast…funny that he announced he was through with racing about 3 months ago
