I added these to the list.
" Atlanta Swimming Pools - where do they hide them?"
They don’t call it Fatlanta for nothing ![]()
.
hey thickasabrick, do you swim at the roswell la fitness regularly? that’s where i go generally. sometimes perimeter pt when i can sneak in a lunch swim.
It depends on where I’m working. I’m a loan officer and I work almost exclusively with a handful of builders, so sometimes I’m in my office in Alpharetta (off Windward) and swim at either John’s Creek or the new LA at Windward and 400. The rest of the time I’m out at building sites, shaking hands, kissing babies and dolling out sausage biscuits - that’s when I tend to be at Holcomb Bridge or Cumberland (those are near current building sites for me). Or, if traffic absolutely sucks (often), I’ll stop at whichever one is handy, swim or lift or spin or (heaven forbid) jump on a $%^##$ treadmill.
That’s the long answer, the short answer is, “Sometimes. It depends.”

By the way, here’s the link to LA Fitness’ various Atlanta locations. You can click on an individual club to make sure it has a pool, but most of them do.

MLK is closed until spring 2007, at the earliest. . However, there are two other city pools that are really good alternatives - Washington Park Aquatics Center and the Rec Center at Adamsville.
These are both virtually new and except for times when swim teams are practicing, not overly crowded.
Washington Park is only a couple of miles from MLK and is 25m. Almost all of the staff from MLK have moved here.
Adamsville is like the crown jewel of city pools as it’s a 50m but they’ve moved a bulkhead to the middle of the pool for the indoor swim season so only 25m until late Spring. Adamsville is near the intersection of I20 W and I285, so it’s a little more of a hike.
I get a membership for $90 which must be the most cost efficient component of my training - good for any City of Atlanta pool.
Another vote for Y at Moores Mill, nice facilty and cool people, plus their Masters Tri groups post the workouts in case you can’t make time and want a structured workout.
What is the Master’s swim schedule at the Y at Moores Mill? Do they allow drop ins?
I’ll check tonight. They’re in the morning, but I don’t remember what time. They allow drops ins, at least they’ve let my sorry ass flounder in the pool with them.
Awesome. I am a Y member and they claim that they are part of the ‘Away Program’ so hopefully I will be dropping in next week when I am in town for the week. Thanks for the info Fast.
The posted info was Monday, Wednesday and Fridays 5:30-6:30.
That would be AM. Sorry.
