Atlanta Peeps: Decent Gym in Buckhead?

Just got a new job in the Buckhead area of Atlanta (close to Lenox Square). Does anyone have any experience or comments on decent gyms in the area? I’m mainly looking for a place to get in a swim workout during lunch, plus cardio equipment when the rain gets to be too much. (An indoor track would be ideal, but I have to be realistic.) The Lenox LA Fitness is within easy walking distance of my office, but checking it out today I was seriously underwhelmed. I’m hoping there’s a better option nearby.

Thanks in advance,

Stephen

I lived off of Lenox Road at one time. I used the Buckhead LA fitness for weights and the Toco Hills location for swimming. I now live near the Toco Hills location and use it exclusively.
Another option is this place: never been there but heard its ok.

Best place to swim at Lunch is Concourse Athletic Club. It’s a 10 minute drive north on GA-400 in the King & Queen building. Masters swim during lunch M, W, F as well as open swims too. Indoor and heated Outdoor pool that is used year round. The gym also has everything you need including an indoor track.

Athletic Club Northeast, on Sheridan Rd. Might be a little far for a lunchtime workout though. Go south on Lenox Rd, cross under I-85, turn left at second stoplight, follow Sheridan about 2 miles. I occasionally exercised there years ago when it was The Sporting Club. It was great then but I don’t know much about the current state.

HA! There is no such thing as a 10 minute drive in Atlanta.

VERY true…I meant 1:10.

This man speaks the truth! I had to run some errands at lunch so I took the car instead of walking. Driving back from LA Fitness to my office - which is less than a half mile north on Piedmont - took over 20 minutes.

No kidding on the traffic and the Lenox area is the worst.

Hey, don’t forget about the new Ga 400 trail. Not a pool, but it could give you a nice car-free place to run during lunch. LA Fitness, for $30 bucks a month would give you a place to shower.

Just wait. You’re about to experience the Lenox/Phipps mall Chirstmas season. Can’t say I miss those days. Add another 20 to 30 minutes of drive time in that area .

Another good place to run is the Leonx Park business park off of Roxboro and the Shady Valley neighborhood. Favorite hill was Towerview Dr in Shady Valley.
