if you are looking for outdoor i dont think you will find much near downtown. As for nearby indoor pools, there is the MLK natatorium on Boulevard. You also might be able to talk your way into the Ga State or Ga Tech Rec Center pools.

Emory Univ. has a good outdoor pool. Not sure of the hours, here’s a link to an event they had recently, it has the contact info on it.

The LifeTime Fitness Centers have good outdoor pools, too. But, you’d have to get up to the burbs.

Dynamo Chalmblee (Shallowford exit off I-85 North from downtown) has an indoor 25yd and an outdoor 50m pool. The outdoor pool is under a bubble but the sides are opened up now. Come up and join one of the masters practice’s if you can make it! It isn’t too far from downtown if you have a car. http://www.dynamomasters.com/news.php
I’m not sure the public can swim at the Emory University pools for lap swimming but you could go to a masters practice. The outdoor pool is very nice but the masters group is pretty small. http://www.emorycommunityswimming.com/index.php?fr=masters
And as someone else suggested, the MLK Natatorium is close to downtown - nothing fancy but it will do the job. http://www.atlantaga.gov/government/parks/burparks_listofswimmingpools.aspx
The outdoor pool at Grant Park may also be open now, but I’ve never swam there so I don’t know much about it. I would rank Dynamo as your best choice, followed by Emory and then MLK last.
Lots of pools here, not sure what kind of transportation you have. Car? Cab? Subway?
Ga Tech is a great option if you can find a way in.
Also the Dynamo Swim Club Pool in Chamblee is pretty nice and not too far away.
A site I have found to be extremely helpful when traveling is www.swimmersguide.com
The Grant Park Pool. It’s right here.

I swim here in the summer. It is only 2 wide lanes and can get pretty hectic, but that water has to be on the cold side right now. I think most outdoor pools just opened this weekend.
Thanks everyone for your responses. I have no car so walking and public transportation I will check these out this afternoon.
I don’t know which Hyatt you are at but I was at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead last week. They had a 25M pool outside but the water was heated like a hot tub. Seriously 90+ in the water. I did a few laps and had to get out because I could barely breathe.
