I used to swim a lot at Dynamo Swim Center (3119 Shallowford Road, Atlanta, GA 30341, 770-457-7946). Its about 20 minutes away from CNN center, up I-85. I am not sure of anything downtown.
I am not sure of anything downtown, unless you can get into Ga Tech. But I have swam as some nice City of Atlanta Aquatics Centers. Washington Park (only about 5 minutes from downtown off I-20) or Adamsville (at junction of I-20 and 1-285) are both 50M pools, 8 lanes, and worthy of a look. Don’t let the drive or the neighborhood to them deter you. Centers are quite nice, folks are super nice, and generally they are not busy at all…
Will you have a car?
Are you a member of the YMCA?
Do you work for CNN/Turner?
There s a YMCA you could get to from MARTA (Mass Transit) In Decatur, It would be a 1.2 mile walk or run from the station.
There is a YMCA south of CNN Center that is 3.5 miles away (cab ride?) but in a seemingly bad area. I swim there occasionally and the pool is usually empty.
If you work for CNN there is a lap pool in the basement of CNN in a Turner employee only gym. It is 20 yards but it is usually empty.
If you have a car I would go to Dynamo Or Emory Masters. Be aware. Driving in Atlanta is no fun.
Georgia Tech for sure. Lap swimming hours are here: http://crc.gatech.edu/content/556/crc-hours-of-operation

Last time I was there, last year, it was my understanding that general public was only allowed to swim there if they were a USMS member.
Perhaps I misunderstood.
Washington Park is your best bet. Drop ins are fine, costs $4 a swim. The pool is nice, the neighborhood is not. Take an Uber if you don’t have a car. There are a couple of teams that swim there, but even still you can almost always get a lane to yourself.
Emory masters has $10 drop in. They swim early in morning and some evenings
Google them. Parking in morning may be tricky. There peavine lot is free I think until 7 am, but then 4 charge per hr. Evening is free after 4 pm.
Pool in evening crowded and am swim is shared with Emory swim team.
Several la fitnesses if a member.
Omni had pool but club now for turner but may take hotel guests…not sure.
Last time I stayed in downtown Atlanta (next to Centennial Park), I drove up to this chuch … about 20 mins north … to swim http://www.spdl.org/ministries/family-life-center/
I don’t remember what I paid, but the trick was to make sure you weren’t coming during water aerobics or some such as noted in the schedule. BTW, this is indoors in the basement. The “Family Life Center” is more like a fitness center for this huge church. Per their website:
Pool
The Family Life Center swimming pool is 25 yards long. The depth is 3 1/2 feet at each end and 5 feet in the middle. Thirty-six laps equal one mile. The water quality, similar to “mineral spa water,†is maintained using an innovative saline chlorination system. The pool is not available for swimming and exercising during many scheduled classes and activities. Consult the Pool Activity Schedule for details.
