Atlanta area triathletes

Hello, I may be relocating to the north atl area in the future. The office would be in alpharetta. Any suggestions on tri friendly communities, specifically small town atmosphere with a place to swim and near trial for mtb?

Thanks,

Styrrell

decatur. w/in 10 minutes of one of the best master’s teams in the country (Dynamo), a local y w/ a great pool, out the door on the bike to a 30+ mile dedicated bike trail. great downtown, low key bars, restaurants. etc…

Unfortunately I just left Alpharetta. Great place to live & work, although it is getting a bit crowded. I rode with Tri-Atlanta & Frazier Cycling on occasion. Do a search and you can find their web sites. Not so much of a small town anymore, but I think you will enjoy it. I rode on Windward Parkway quite a bit on the weekends, but the traffic has gotten pretty bad. Your office is probably on Windward or very close. Windward Pkwy was the area where the Dannon Duathlon was held for years, and the Du worlds a few yrs ago.

You are only 45 minutes from Dalonega GA (sp), which is home to the 6 Gap Century and about 10,000 ft of climbing over 85 miles. Also home to the Tour de Georgia. Also some great MTB trails. Park at R-Ranch and you can always find someone to ride with. There is also a little known trail of of GA 400, exit 7. It is tucked back in a suburban area, but once you are in, you would think you are in the mts. I can’t remember the name, but it is great for mtb & trail running. It is about a 15 min drive from Windward.

i’ve raced some extremely talented guys from alpharetta so there seems to be a good talent pool to train with (they were all sponsored buy all3sports if that helps)
.

I would stay in the Alpharetta area. You will be closer to work cutting down on commute time. There are fine roads and MTBing up ther. I am doing an epic mtb ride Sat. It will be about 30 miles. PM me if you want more info.

Get ready Atlanta, Shawn is one of the many Kick-ass 40 year olds in SE Michigan.

My coach, Chris Andrus, lives in the Atlanta area. He knows all the area training venues and I think could speak knowledgeably about the real estate market, too. www.mycoachchris.com
