At what temp is full sleeve no longer a good idea?

Doing eagleman this weekend and the water temp is currently 74.3 °F.

Should get close to 75-76 by race day. I have both a full and sleeveless wetsuit…

thoughts on which one to wear?

Wetsuit legal last year (barely) and I wore a full sleeve suit and started to feel a little warm during the last stretch into shore. For an IM distance, I think I would have cooked with a long sleeve at that water temp. 1/2IM (for me) was fine and don’t feel like it affected the rest of my race.

yeah i was there last year as well but only had the sleeveless so thats what i wore. picked up a full sleeve and like it so i want to wear it. think i will try it out on either friday or saturday since we are heading down early.

thanks for the input. helps with my decision…

looks like conditions might FINALLY be nice…

if you can get away with not cooking, a long sleeve suit is ALWAYS faster (shown by various tests). However if you end up melting then you’ll be slower anyway. Test it out before if you can

Full sleeve is always the best idea!

Why? Assuming good fit - It’s faster!

Do you want to be fast or do you want to be comfortable? If you want to be fast and the temperature is 76 or less, wear the full sleeve.

x2

For me, if it’s 76 and below I go long sleeve. I raced one year in a tiny local race where the water was like 80+ and they didn’t care if people wore wetsuits. My swim training was lacking and I wanted to do well so I wore ls and cooked myself. I never really recovered on the bike and ruined the whole day.
