At least Ulrich partially fixed his position (photo)

It seems Lance went for a very deep front wheel and Jan quite a shallow one - I wonder if they were expecting different wind conditions or if it was just personal prefference?

My opinion is that Lance’s choice was a much better one.

that photo also shows how stupid the UCI rules are…if you want to sit forward, you sit forward
.

The “Zabriske’s position today and his new P3C. (photo)” thread shows a similar position of sitting on the nose to get around the rule.

Was Jan’s previous position bad or broken based upon his previous results, or what is accepted as good by the Slowtwitch “experts”?

He “fixes” his position and is supposed to be in his best shape ever, but loses more time in 19K than he did in the long TT last year???

Sounds like he needs to “un-fix”

usually smashing a securit windshiel with your head and back doesn’t do a lot of good for your cycling shape…I hope he can recover from it, but it’s a major blow…Lance is looking straight towards #7

copy that -

I hit the pavement 8 days ago and today was the first day i even came close to feeling “normal” on the bike - (my stitches are throbbing like crazy though)

i think he got hurt a LOT worse than t-mobile has let on. It takes a lot of force to break a car window / windshield

Of course ullrich does have a history of riding better and better as the tour wears on. I certainly hope he can find some form or this will be even more boring than last year.

Yes, well, we did make some changes. First of all, I want to point out that we did not sell him this bike. He was in here all night. We spent hours photographing him, changing components, trying different aero bars, etc. I want to point out that we did not sell him this bike. None of us–not even Jan-- got much sleep. I want to point out that we did not sell him this bike. The bike just doesn’t fit him–this was the best we could do, a huge improvement, but not what I’d like to see. BTW–we did not sell him this bike.

I hope everyone understands that we did not sell him this bike.
