Asics Shoe Switch Problem

I recently switched from running in the Gel Nimbus 13 to the Gel Noosa 7. Definitely a lower profile, less cushion type shoe. Could this switch cause plantar fasciitis ?

The Noosa is also a stability shoe, whereas the Nimbus is neutral. I’d probably go back the other way.

What he ^^ said. Also neutral shoes traditionally have a higher arch, whereas stability shoes are “flatter”. This extra space (between arch of your foot and shoe) allows the soft tissue structures on the plantar aspect of the foot to stretch a little more every time you hit the ground. How many MPW were you doing when you made the switch and how long has it been?

rroof is your man for this, as he’s a Doc of Podiatric Medicine (and very helpful on ST) - I’m just a lowly 1st year med student who knows way too much about shoes…

Thanks for the info, that’s really good to know. I had read that the Noosa 7’s were a neutral shoe, which is why I bought them(they also look kind of cool), but what you said makes sense. I do have a somewhat higher arch. I’ll see if I can return them(they have less than 50 miles on them) and exchange for a pair of Nimbus’.
