I’ve been running in the DS Trainers for several years with no problems until now. Overall, I like the DS 13 (except for the ridiculous color scheme), but the shoes have caused some pain on the top of my left foot. So I’m considering switching. I can wear anything from a light stability to a neutral shoe and would prefer something under 11 ounces for training and racing. Currently running 40-50 mi/wk and weigh 160 lb. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
Mizuno Wave Elixer.

I have both Sacouny Tangent 3 and the Elixer. I used to run the Asics DS trainer… I am back to the Asics DS Trainer.
Here is my scoop - Sacouny - Nice high mileage, lightweight trainer that has lot of padding but is a bit dead.
Elixer - much less padding, wider toe box, flat forefoot and fast feeling.
-Both nice shoes also look at the Nike (can’t remember which one) and NB 903
Thanks. I may give the Saucony a try. I’ve read lots of mixed reviews on the Elixir.
Did you like the DS 12? I hated that shoe. I had been using DS trainers since about '98 and there was another previous model that I couldn’t wear, I don’t remember which one it was. But I really like the 11’s. I got the 13’s, and while I can run in them, they are not as nice to me as the 11’s. They are a little to hard, I like more padding. I love the Tangent 2’s and I hear the Tangent 3’s are pretty much the same, though I haven’t tried them. I’ll probably give them a shot, when the 13’s are done.

From the sounds of it, all current new model Asics are pretty rubbish. I have run in Nimbus for 5 versions now and the latest are junk. I went Mizuno as a fill in. I hear the DS Tariner specifically is about a half size smaller in practice than the last model. May be your soreness issue there.
I’ve had pretty good luck with the 12s. They’re kind of firm but that doesn’t bother me much. My feet aren’t too picky and seem to adapt well to most shoes in the neutral to perf stability range. I’ve just historically gone with the DS due to their versatility as both a trainer and racer. Plus they look decent and have held up well for me. By contrast, I had a pair of mizuno wave riders 2 years ago that wore out quickly. So, although those shoes felt good, I’ve stayed away from that brand.
New balance 902 (orange one)
New New balance 903 a replacement to that shoe supposed to come this month but pushed back due to success of 902. Not much difference except the color and the heel loop/pull tab (this will speed up the transition) New color is yellow if that matters
A lot more cushioned on the forefoot, feels nice and a bit wider in the toebox. A lot lower feeling that DS12.
Didn’t try the 13s yet, from the look of it and sole looks like not much difference than an ugly color.
As far as Mizuno Elixir goes (yellow one) I had it for a week and I agree with what people said.
I’m trying out the Zoot and Nike air zoom skylon. Hopefully one will work, as the DS 12’s were so nowhere near the shoe the old 11’s were.
