Arkansas Iron Will Xterra

Just got back earlier today from Jonesboro, Arkansas where Jeff Owens & his Craighead Park Staff hosted the Iron Will Xterra.

Slowtwitch is notorious for bashing races/race directors and that is the reason for my post. I can honestly say this was one of the best events I have ever been to. The water was crystal clear (little warm but hey its August!) and beautiful. The course was marked awesome with some sort of directional hash on the bike and run about every 10 feet. The trails were groomed & fast. The course was pretty challenging overall; and the weather made it even tougher but what would you expect from a race called “Iron Will”?

Results were posted pretty much before you could even down a bottled water and make it over to the results board. They have been posted since earlier today on the Xterra website as well.

The volunteers were super helpful though out the whole day. Anyway, like I said the point of my post is to promote this race. I don’t have any affiliation but I do race about every weekend and do know a good product when I see it. I live in Clermont, Florida as some of you know and I was just taken back by the hospitality of the folks from Jonesboro. I can assure you I will do everything I can to make it back there next Xterra season.

If any of you out there are thinking about a late season Xterra in 2008, try this one…but don’t tell too many folks as its probably the best kept secret on the Xterra circuit.

Kevin - thanks for that review. I was hoping to try a lot of new xterras that I have not done before. I’ll put this one on my list!

Good stuff. Very close to going to this race. This is good to know for next year and nice result KGrog.
