good to read there is people like the monty’s, brooks’s and Dev’s who know what there are saying and knowing the Tri world a lot longer instead of since 2020. .
all those podcasts, and the “experts” truth, impression for me is they are very biased, it is known that LS is not a big fan of being on a Pod for 2 hours. But as a result you see it so clearly, they all avoid him in their talks, no single media outlet took him in a top 3 spot in their reviews, but when you come on those podcasts you get all the attention ,you are considered as the best of the world, “they are soo gooood, the best ever…”…the experts had so much info ,the week before Oceanside they were telling that they were informed Jelle Geens is insane shape, guy will destroy them all on the run.as the experts had so much inside info and are on top of all, but Talbot going on those podcasts even saying LS is full focus and dedication this winter, no one has the inside info the guy is in shape, really ??? nope, best place was 4th of 3th .Ok based on the past season fine, but where is their info who is in shape and not, or did they don’t want to gave him the attention he should get equally to the other top pics… if you like to listen this OK, and some items are very well explained, but personally a lot is biased, they can make you or destroy you in those conversations and after all it is just a gamble and they were totally wrong. Myself doing this sport since 1995 and following triathlon, i can only have a lot of respect for guys like Gomez, wildcard deserved or not, i am happy to watch on eurosport a race when i see the names of Gomez and Brownlee as it brings some old nostalgy of racing, or is that wrong ?
Reading that wall of text was harder than listening to a 3 hour pod, but yes, of course you’re allowed to be excited about Brownlee and Gomez racing. T100 included them in the series precisely so that people like you would see their names and decide to tune in.
3 hour podcasts may not be everyone’s jam much like drive time talk radio or morning sports TV. Just turn it off if you don’t like it.
Terrific social content from Daniel and Indie today:
Ari is ok. Jack talks way too much, loves too much, favorite’s too much, all time’s too much, best ever’s too much, behind the scenes too much. Sadly though, overall it’s good for the sport. Triathlon is basically boring, someone has to talk it up.
My real hate is promoting nutrition supplements. Whole different topic, but to me it really lacks credibility when someone trying to give insight into a sport is promoting the latest snake oil.
I basically walked away from the podcast. I really enjoyed his interviews when the training was the focus; his interview with Olav is great.
The podcast changed and it’s now more about him, and his friendships with all the pros, and how he gets all the inside information. He really does love the sound of his voice.
There is absolutely no way I can listen to anyone talk for 3 hours with the amount of superlatives he uses. It’s just not for me.
The truth of the matter is that everyone has different biases and perspectives. As long as you are transparent with your logic and reasoning, you are allowed to have an opinion without a bunch of keyboard warriors exploding on you.
Ari explains that since he has been in the sport, ie 2020, Javier Gomez has done nothing of note in the sport. That is true. No matter how good you were, coming back to peak form 5 or 6 years after having no top level results is a big ask. Furthermore, the sport has evolved and requires athletes to be top level in all 3 disciplines. Javier was never a very strong biker in middle distance triathlon, he was very good at legally sitting in packs in order to stay near the front of the race. That doesn’t work very well in PTO racing. I think Ari’s assessment is very reasonable, and the people here bagging on him need to take a step back and think about things rationally instead of with their emotions.
I listen to most of the top triathlon podcasts and I do enjoy How They Train a lot.
But I was riveted when Ari was on the first time when they did the Oceanside preview.
He was articulate and knowledgeable and yes - he had opinions - but they were based on times and facts.
I even thought to myself - “I hope he’s on more often…this is GREAT!â€
So I really enjoyed this and thought Ari wasn’t rude or anything like that at all. Loved it.
If I am to critique anything it would be Nick from TTL: I find him full of himself and he talks way too much.

And Gomez is a scratch for Singapore……
Who is Chelsea Sodaro’s new coach? Jack mentioned she moved on from Plews on the latest pod.

I wonder if Gomez will continue workng with Plews? It does seem as if Plews method only works well for himself. Also curious about Sodaro’s new coach…
Speak of the devil, Ari Klau talked some bold shite about Gomez in that podcast…but where the heck is he? Is his last result a 4:25 70.3?
Seems to me as if talking crap about triathlon legends that have already achieved a lot in the sport (including two 70.3 world champs) while being a pro himself that is currently getting his ass kicked by dozens of men and women age groupers in a 70.3 race…just seems a bit embarrassing.
Also curious about Sodaro’s new coach…
I suspect we will find out at T100 London. Lots of changes in her life it seems. Good for her.
What shit was he talking? He was entirely correct that Gomez was delusional?
What shit was he talking? He was entirely correct that Gomez was delusional?
When or where did Gomez say that he was going to win or challenge for the podium? Asking for real, because I don’t remember him making any bold statements about his predicted performance.
Even if he did, in my view, if you are full time MPRO and your last result is an embarrassing 4:25 on a flat course; maybe you are better off not being so blunt when dissecting your colleagues expected performance, specially if they have a much better resume than yours. But we can agree to disagree =o)
And Gomez is a scratch for Singapore……And Gomez is a scratch for London after his #16 in San Francisco. Must be a bummer for him (not to race against Brownlee again, in London, albeit not Hyde Park). That’ll be a third ‘miss’ on his T100 contract but he’ll get ‘compassionate leave’ for his Singapore DNS.

If I recall in one of the podcasts I think he said it was delusional to think he could compete for a podium spot. And I think he made reference to the fact that he, himself (Ari) had nothing on Gomez and it will sound bad coming from him.
The thing is, to take Brownlee, for instance, he actually had a decent shot at being on the podium in Miami if he paced it better. And it’s not like Brownlee is the bottom of the barrel. And he’s a name that performs reasonably well. It’s not so far off from inviting Sanders to these races (or even Sam Long before proving himself). The assumptions people had going into these races hasn’t totally borne fruit for a lot of athletes.
Not sure if it’s true but I heard a rumor that it’s Arild Tveiten.
Would appear to be Bjorn Gessmann.
I don’t know… According to her Instagram she just lost the Canyon sponsorship.

There is an expression in French “un de perdu, dix de retrouvés”. Stay tuned…
I think she is going to be very well surrounded. This was discussed in the TH show, how the bike has gone up a few notches. She has the best of the best on her side.

I would say she has not lost her bike sponsor ,as it would be unlikely to have a half year contract. So I would guess her comment about mutual to be correct.
