I think I pretty much bought them all by now. The only decent one is the Otterbox one for the Nano 2nd Gen. It is big but it is fully submersible and you can even use it with waterproof headphones while swimming.
All the others are frankly a bit disappointing.
What do you guys use as a sports case for your Ipod.
Call it “engineering” but I press play, flick the HOLD switch, wrap it in a paper towel, put it in a ziploc and then shove it in a pocket for my 2hr run…Seems to keep most of the sweat off of it…and I am a HEAVY sweater…
and I didn’t pay $60+ for a case that I’ll get pissed at…
I use otterbox. But the only time I actually use my iPod is when i’m water running. I use a ziploc baggie to keep my cell phone dry when i’m on my bike. When I’m doing a long ocean swim, I use my SwimP3.
Well I wasn’t all that happy about the largish size of the Otterbox for the 2nd Gen Nano. But I did manage to shoot the thing off the back of my treadmill, onto hard tile and into the wall today… and that went pretty well.
Hey, I’m not letting him x-ray my cranium. It might come up empty.
Seriously, this seems like a good opportunity for some enterprising person to make some dough. How hard could it be to design a slim, waterproof, inexpensive case for an ipod?
Interesting you say that, I’m mostly the opposite. I’d love to swim with mine but running and biking I rarely use it. Riding maybe once or twice a month if I’m totally unmotivated and I’ll warm up for a race running but that’s pretty much it. Now the monotony of swimming? I’d love to break that up even though I’d lose track of laps worse than I do now. Now if I could figure out how to open my new shuffle and fill with non-conducting resin I’d be set.
Nike ipod arm band, i love it. I live in Fl and dont wear a shirt when i do my runs in the middle of the day or on the beach, with the humidity you can imagine how soaked it gets. 0 problems…
It’s not perfect but it’s working great for me so far. It’s completely enclosed (neoprene case with clear plastic area over the front of the ipod). It comes with a strap extension so you can wear it on your upper arm (designed for wrist) and a pouch for using the Nike+ sensor with non-Nike shoes.
Interestingly i have my students working on this as a design project at the moment after we said the same thing. I still believe than an MP3 should be created that doesn’t require a hard casing and can be used in the field…
