Anything new in sock technology?

A lot of my runs are sockless in tri shoes but for trail runs and my recent relay ultra I wore socks. I just get the athletic/running socks from target and they seem to work fine but I’m curious if I’m missing out on something better.

What do you use?

Feetures! Elite.

I wear Balega socks and they are awesome. I have had some of them for 7 years and they are just now showing signs of wear.

Tried Balega’s and WrightSocks and the WrightSocks are my go to choice for blister prevention. They are double layer so you might have a problem if you shoes are on the tight side.

Wright Socks are the best! I’ve tried going sockless for both the bike and run and just can’t do - wright socks have a thin double layer and really helps with blister prevention and they have a lot of different options - ankle heights, thickness, and colors.

Thorlo aerodynamic Experia socks. Saved 45 seconds in my last 40k.

Personally, I can’t stand the wright socks.

For me, it’s smartwool all the way. Once I tried them, I no longer wear anything else, even for my regular day-to-day/business wear.

Love the Experias for over 10miles because my paw pads get a little sore without them. I love wright socks for tris, biking, and shorter runs.

Another thumbs up for the wright socks.

Smartwool. But I’m partial to merino wool.

Swiftwick are by far the best socks available now. Many different types and lengths.

SmartWool & SwiftKicks, depends on the course and how much cushion I want.

Much like the Wizard of OZ’s declaration that “Hearts will never be practical until they can be made unbreakable” sox will never be fully realized until they become Poop-Resistant

For some people, anyway, not myself, of course
.

A lot of people will say Smartwool. Personally I think they have gone down in quality over the past few years.

Fits socks in my opinion are good quality socks.

Wouldn’t smartwool be too warm? Do they even make summer versions? Just curious.

Injinji performance toe socks are all I run in now days (minus sockless for tris). They take a few minutes to get used to but especially for trail running I think nothing else compares! They even make a wool version if that is what you are into.

I’ve only used SwiftWick and Balega, love Swiftwick and longest route I used them on was a 75 mile bike/12 mile run, feet stayed dry. Would SmartWool be even better for longer than that?

I haven’t tried the Wrights. heck, not sure I’ve ever even seen them,
but I’m real happy with Balega’s. I’ve run through water a few times on 20 mi runs- and never had a blister, a hot spot, nor did they even feel wet.

another happy balega customer

I saw these guys at a recent trade show…they have a bunch of different socks, as well as some therapy products. The owner of the company hooked me up with a brace for my plantar fasciitis and a pair of the socks.

They make a lot of claims re: their therapy products that I am not attesting to…but the socks are top-notch, among the best I have ever worn.

As we were talking about my PF issues, he did a few “tests” on my leg to demonstrate that the issue was in my calf…he placed his hand on side of my foot, next to the big toe and try and resist his pressure. Moved my foot pretty easily. He then “turned on” my calf muscle by hitting some trigger point on my calf. Was then able to resist his pressure. Then he reversed it and turned my calf “off” 9same trigger points) and was able to once again move my foot. Note - all of that had nothing to do with his claims re: his therapy products, but it certainly lent some credence to what he was saying about the cause of my PF.

Anyway…probably the subject for a different thread. Like I said…great socks.
