Yes, I realize it’s an odd request. Have an injury and I cannot run, but have been cleared to walk the marathon in Mont Tremblant(a blessing or a curse?). Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat and would like a partner for a 7.5 hour conversation. Figure I’ll be leaving T2 about 7:30 ish into the race.
i’m sure you’ll find many people willing to walk the marathon with you at IMMT. they just probably won’t have planned it…
Lol. So true, I’ve been a member of that group also.
Not really any help to you, but I “ran” 6:57:xx one year at Louisville!
I’m sure you’ll find someone or more likely, multiple people along the way, more likely on loop 2. I had an inflamed ankle tendon in my first 70.3 that prevented me from running but was fine walking with a brace. My bike was relatively slow for the flat course but even then the way out on the run was a bit lonely and it wasn’t until the halfway point that I had company, not for the full way back as most people are on/off walkers but it’s better to have a variety, isn’t it? Just keep your will not to run the last mile! would be a shame to re-injure just because the finish line feeling got to you.
So true about the finish line emotions. It’s amazing once the horse is headed to the barn how the pace just picks up. I’ve been fortunate to cross the line a few times while feeling good so I think I’ll be ok in keeping it in check.
Just curious, of that 6:57 “run” how much was walking? I’m figuring on about a 17min/mile pace which gets me about 7:30. My “training” walks seem to indicate that as my sweet spot!
I’m in the same boat. See you out there.

Lol, I may be joining you guys, dealing with a piriformis/sciatica/unknown type injury for the past year+. I’m ‘cleared’ to do whatever I want based on pain level. I suspect a lot of the marathon will be a walk for me. Best scenario will be a jog 5-10 minutes, walk 1-2 minutes, type of thing.
I should be getting into T2 at around 7:15 into the race…1:15 +/- swim, 5:45 - 5:55 bike…
Don’t worry. You will run across plenty of people to partner up with and walk the course. It’ll be a group by the end.

After spending 38 minutes in T2 trying to decide if I was going to DNF or continue, I knew I had to be aware of my pace to meet the midnight cutoff. I was able to muster enough will to jog the first 0.1 mile after each aid station and walk to the next aid station. Had I not been able to do that, I probably wouldn’t have finished. I crossed the line at 11:45pm that night.

If we form a paceline we should be able to cut several minutes off our walk time.
I like it
.
Wow, I respect you for the mental toughness to head out there and do that.
I may very well be your partner in crime… my plan is to leave T2 at around 7:55 but I know I will be able to slow pace and run the first 7-8, after that may be a walk. Was training so well (shooting for PR) until an IT band injury send everything downhill, but no reason to drop out (I did drop out of Syracuse)… let me know and if the cards play like I think we can walk together the last portion.
Sorry about your injury, but if we meet up that would be great. Enjoy taper.
Mike
Just for a walking Tremblant data point, I made some horrible nutritional mistakes and walked the whole thing. (I may have jogged the first km). Anyhow, it took me 6:25.
It’s true, you will meet a lot of people in the same boat.
If all goes according to plan, my ITBS won’t flare up and I’ll have a hella good run…
Vegas odds currently has me walking a good portion of the ‘run’ tho,
BIB 1087 - if you see me walking don’t be afraid to say hello - I’ll jump in on the pace line!
I “ran” a marathon b y walking it in 6:26 - every single step! 14:40 a mile is possible - just keep walking, just keep walking…
Email me! mikeparlato@gmail.com. that is the only way I will make it!
