Am signing up for the Disney half in May and plan on staying at the campground. Any suggestions as to where is the best spot? How is it on race day? Thanks.
I did Disney this year and stayed in the cabins at Ft. Wilderness. It was very, very convenient. I’m not sure if you’re talking about camping (for real) or staying in the cabins, but anywhere within the resort would be an excellent choice, since most of the people there are there for the race. Registration, pre-race swim, and race day were great…just a 5 min bike or bus ride up to the lake. The run course went right by our cabin on a main street and even though folks were still out on the course, we had no problem going back and cleaning up before the awards. If I were to race there again, I would certainly want to stay at Ft. Wilderness.
We’ll be staying on our pop-up camper which thankfully has air conditioning. Thanks for the info. I’ve done the marathon down there but never the tri. Should be fun.
I’ve stayed at the camp ground both years for the Disney 1/2. It is the best place to stay for the family. They can get up late and walk over to the swim start on race day. No need for transportation.
My kids (9 and 13) loved the outdoor movie each night with the campfire and songs. The next best place to stay is the Wilderness Lodge as you can also walk to the race site from the hotel.
