Anyone sleep with compression socks?

I usually put my compression socks after a long or hard run and have really noticed an improvement in recovery. I usually run in the PM, so wear the socks until bedtime (about 3 hours). Does anyone wear them all night long? Good or bad idea?

I have and like doing so but it’s too damn hot during the summer though.

Ill be back doing it as it cools off a bit.

Ive only worn them after long runs last fall during a marathon build. I wore them overnight a few times and even to work the next day after a few 18-20 milers.

I dont see how it could cause a problem (and plenty of people would say they dont see how it could help). I lived to tell about it.

Socks isn’t the best for me while sleeping I prefer the compress sport stuff. It helps a lot to recover more quickly. I usually wear them for 48h after a long run if I feel sore. That’s doesn’t remove the fact that you should stretch a lot and do some foam roller massages and drink lots of water.

I slept with mine but the wife walked in on us…

In retrospect it wasn’t worth it, and now i feel dirty and worthless…

I wear mine overnight after races and when my shin splints crop up.

I use calf sleeves so I don’t need to wash them frequently for post workout.

I just don’t like sleeping in them for some reason. I’m sure its fine, but that’s just me. Wear them after a race until bedtime and then take them off.

<— Had a similar experience… except now I feel I can go longer and faster when it counts

If you run longer than 4 hours, should you consult a Dr.?

Just my left foot due to an Achilles injury while I had acute symptoms . I mainly was just trying to keep it warm help maintain good blood flow. It was only a 6" cuff.

Yes. Had a lot of lower leg soft tissue problems while training for a marathon last year. Bought myself a few pairs of compression socks and was wearing them pretty much 24x7. No problems (other than getting too hot) and seemed to help me a bunch.

Socks, no.

Calf sleeves - YES.

Any time my calves get tight or sore, I practically live in calf sleeves.
I get tired of the compression on my feet after a while, so the socks are for during activity only.

Have the same problem with compressing the feet.
Bought a couple of pairs of cheap drugstore compression socks ($12 two pairs), cut the toe box out of them, leaving the heel.
Works a treat. (still too hot for summer nights even with A/C)

Yes. But sometimes I wake up from my big toenail getting compressed into the nail bed. Then I take them off. Never had any other adverse results.

For some reason I really don’t want to know what guys in M45-49 sleep in. Perhaps some of the womens are amused by what you sleep in, but I think in that case you should be posting this answer in the women’s forum. The womens on the other hand are free to post what they are sleeping in or not. I am sure that would improve the quality of responses on this thread. What ML sleeps in should remain private and only Mrs. ML should be privy to that.

YES! I sleep in full compression tights before big races, post race, and after big training days. Helps a TON.
