Anyone running in Sketchers Go Run R?

I bought a pair of Scetchers Go Run R. Wishing they had the Go Bionics but I said what the heck I’ll try the Go Run R. They were much cheaper than the Nike Free that I have now.
I went sockless for 3 miles and was floored at how soft the ride was. I have been mid foot strike for > 1year now. Are there going to be any problems?
Should I still seek out the Go Bionics. I liked also the foot box was wider than the Nike.
Thanks

They are definitely better shoes than the Free’s, IMO.

The Go Run Ride’s get great reviews by people who know what they are talking about. I’ve owned the Bionics as well, and liked them. But, I may prefer the GoRun Ride over the GoBionic. They are both great shoes - if the Rides are working for you then don’t worry about it!

Go Run Ride is my favorite running shoe so far…just got my second pair yesterday. I wish they had drainage holes and lasted a bit longer, but you can find them cheap and drill your own holes so not a big deal.

Hmm drilling holes sounds good. I like the mesh in the back of the heel support. I should go see if they have more they are on sale. The lady at the store is actually shocked they are selling them there.

I like them as a once a week shoe, but not an everyday trainer.

DDo you drill holes in the removable foot inserts as well as the sole?

No, just the sole so I’m not sure if it’s going to work. I didn’t try it with my first pair and I haven’t had a long/sweaty/wet run yet on the new pair. I’ll try to remember to let you know if it works once it’s been put to the test!

I ran in the GoRun Rides and loved them until they remodeled the shoe and got rid of the arch support. I cried. They were the best running shoes I’ve ever had.

sniffle

I love my rides. Up to 600 miles on my first pair. If i use the rides at IMMT I will retire them at the halfway point. Switching or using my hoka’s for the rest of the race/whole race. Btw, the first version is still available at amazon. Some colors are cheaper than others

How do I get the first version of the shoes? How do I tell? If I can buy the arch supporty ones I’ll plotz from happiness.

Is the “Go Run Ride 2” the one without the arch support? Amazon has the Go Run Ride and the Go Run Ride 2.

here’s the link. hope these are the shoes you are looking for and that they have your color and size.

The first (circa 2011) versions of the shoes featured a very aggressive arch support, which was perfect for me. ALL subsequent version of the shoes that I’ve tried no longer feature the aggressive arch. I emailed the company and was told that they stopped making the first version with the arch.

Even the shoes that are labelled ‘arch support’ don’t have it to the degree that the first version did, and I’ve got really, really high arches (so high that the top of the foot is curved as well). I’ve had terrible luck using insoles - they change the performance of the shoe and haven’t really worked for me.

So if there’s a way for me to tell if the shoes being sold are circa 2011 and have the actual arch support that I need, I’ll be the happiest girl in the world.

No, they’re not the ones I’m looking for - they’re post redesign, and won’t have enough arch support.

Sigh. When I wear out the pair I have now, it’s back to the drawing board.

Thank you for taking the time to try to help, though. I do appreciate it.

Hey man, the drilled holes worked. I drilled 6 3/16" holes in my right shoe and none in the left shoe. Went for a hot/sweaty run yesterday and could totally tell the difference. The left shoe was squishy and making noise while the right shoe was not at all squishy and perfectly quiet. I was actually kind of surprised at how big of a difference it made.
