If yes, would love to see it.
I make clocks and other stuff. Check out my etsy shop:
My roommate makes these:
.
Cool clocks - cheap too, might have to order me one.
Interesting concept. Open back frames with bike part in the middle.
I have done wheel clocks as well but don’t have any made up at the moment.
Here is everything I have done: http://pinterest.com/jakesteria/bicyclesrecycled-my-etsy-shop/
I have purchased from this lady…all tax deductible, and money goes towards a cure for cancer.

Page hasn’t been updated for awhile…but she is still working on art. She can do custom pieces based on exactly what you want too.
awesome!
I made some chain cufflinks for friends:
You should definitely sell those cufflinks. How did you attach the cufflink piece to the chain link?
Those wheel clocks are awesome, I would be interested in one if you end up making them again.
I’ve seen those around. Did you polish them or plate them? I want some that are plated silver
If you were making an art piece out of cassette parts/chain rings for outside (would be exposed to sun and rain), what would you coat the rings with, if any, to try to deter rust formation? I’m wanting to do some abstract something to put on our fence. Thanks!
My friend Philip Lamb, Metaling in Art, makes all kinds of cool metal art, lots of it bike-themed and/or from bike parts. I have no affiliation other than he’s my friend and I really love a lot of his stuff. Here are a few pics:
Clocks
Business card holders
He made me this really pretty triathlon pendant for a Christmas gift (he has more):
Entry in a juried art show:
I’ve got a Zipp 808 that is cracked beyond repair but the crack is not that noticeable, and is not under any warranty since I bought it used. The hub, according to the bike shop I took it for repair, is also shot. I’m trying to figure out what to do with it to make some sort of wall hanging for my garage or bike trainer room. Was thinking of maybe putting a home made wheel cover on one side so it looks like a disc wheel then put slots in the cover to feed finisher medal ribbons through so you only see an inch or two of each medal’s ribbon and have the medals hanging on the surface of the wheel cover.

The links are stainless steel, and the torpedo fittings are silver. No polishing or plating, I just had to buff off the oxidation after soldering them.
I guess it would depend on if you wanted to leave the rings the way they are or if you wanted them a different color. If you leave them as is, a thin coat of oil now and then should help keep them from rusting. If you wanted them colored, some primer and paint with clearcoating would work. I have found appliance paint to be pretty durable stuff.
Thanks!
May go with a splash of color.

I used self-fluxing silver solder (available at Fry’s or Home Depot). The torpedo backs are sterling an available online from jewelry supply shops.
For me it was just a fun little thing to do for some friends that ride. There are some folks that make similar items on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/listing/115772679/campagnolo-c10-sterling-silver-bicycle?utm_source=google&utm_medium=product_listing_promoted&utm_campaign=accessories_mid&gclid=CKiR0ZSK2rcCFSJqMgod-msABw
