Anyone in the Vail/Tucson area?

Hi! Anyone from the Vail/Tucson area and have pool recommendations? I’ll be working remote for a month and half in Vail. I’ve heard great things about Orro Valley but it’s almost an hour away from me. Running/ bike routes are also appreciated. Thank you! ☺️

The closest pool for you will be Clements pool. It’s pretty nice and open decent hours.

I agree Clemens is the closest Tuscon city pool. The next closest city pool is at Udall park.
If you like running trails. Easy running trails are found off of the end of Broadway (eastern most dead end). More challenging trails are off of the end of Speedway (eastern most dead end). If you have a National Parks pass, then you could enter Saguaro National park. There is an 8 mile paved road (9 miles if you included the picnic loop). It is hilly. Also Tanque Verde Trail (steep) is accessible from the south picnic area parking lot. In Vail, there is a multiuse path on Camino Loma Alta you could run a loop including this Old Spanish Trail, Pistol Hill road (~9 mile loop). The Huckleberry Loop has parts in Vail that are good for running. Good Luck

I’m in vail for a ski trip. There’s a really nice rec center in Avon with really good hours that’d be worth checking out. I don’t know if it’s got lap pools though, out here for the powder more so than swimming.

What are the crossroads where you’re staying? (I’m in Tucson)

For riding you can take Mary Ann Cleveland (MAC) east towards Pistol Hill, go up that and turn L onto Old Spanish Trail. You can then turn L onto Loma linda or alta (can’t remember) and that will take you back to MAC (well you’ll have to turn L, but the Safeway is only a few miles from here).
Or you can continue on Old Spanish Trail towards to Saguaro East National Park. Riding this has always been a crowd favorite w/anyone I bring there from out of town.

Valencia bisects The Loop. The Loop is a great feeder system to get anywhere you want in the Tucson valley. Think of it as the metro for bikes.

I know Houghton was under construction, not sure about now. You can use Houghton to go N/S and get to Mt. Lemmon or elsewhere in Tucson

Valencia is accessible by hitting old Spanish trail if you head east or Old vail Rd if you go West across Houghton.

You can head west on MAC, cross Houghton and it turns into old vail rd. that will take you to Valencia, turn E and you can get to the loop from there.

I’ll be back in town early January. My friend and I ride anywhere from 2.5-6h every Sunday. You’re welcome to join us. Shoot me a PM if interested

Today I learned that there’s a “Vail” that’s a suburb of Tucson Arizona. I also assumed the OP was asking about Vail in Colorado and found the ask to be an odd combination.
