Anyone have a case on their Garmin 520?

Had one on my 510, and it worked great.

Got a 520 today and would like to have the same protection. Was about to order an OEM one, but read the reviews and they were terrible.

Anyone found a brand that fits well?

Got one on mine, no issues with the garmin case.

Got a white and a black garmin case for my 520. Nice, fits well and does the job to protect it…

You guys talking about this case?

Why do you need a case? It’s already waterproof and its securely mounted to your bike except to and from the house.

It drops much more nicely with a case on it, though I’ve never used one either.

This, and the fact that it can get scratched when throwing it in your bag, etc during transport - even though I’ve got the “tech vault” on my Ogio…anything could happen.

Almost dropped mine the first day I had it and would like to ensure better protection.

Also looking for screen protector recommendations as Zagg doesn’t make one yet.

Apparently, this is a solution to a problem that I did not know existed. I only recently replaced a 500 (with another 500) after 5+ years (really, I don’t remember) of use. The only reason I got a new one was the battery life was starting to shorten with age and it would no longer hold through an IM. I didn’t know they made cases, and didn’t know that I needed one. I’m just happy wallowing in ignorance!

Same for me for just about everything.

I just looked at my 500 which I’ve had since the beginning and other than the mount locking system there is nary a scratch on it. It’s been in and out of bags, on and off bikes several overseas trips for years without a problem.

What the hell are you carrying in your bag? Add me to the list of people who have dropped and crashed a 500 for years without a leaving a mark.

Any older STers remember people encasing their couches in vinyl covers?

All the crap I need for a race weekend.

In the tech vault I put in my 520, charger, a 310xt for backup, and a few other misc items.

Maybe his collection of steak knives?

LMAO! First visit to my new Sister-in-Law’s place and I made some crack like “Were those white trash clear plastic covers on that living room suite when you bought it?” Apparently not - 30 years later and that STILL hasn’t healed.

I have the Garmin case on mine. No issues. I doubt it would protect it if it were to drop from more than a few feet up, but it keeps it from getting scratched.
