Anyone familiar with the new Cane Creek Wheels

I was thinking about maybe getting a Cane Creek Aros front wheel, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. Are they pretty much the Zipp wheels, just rebranded? Thanks.

Mark

The owner of a local tri shop races with these - and he can race with Zipps if he wanted to.

do you know if he has the Ti or the SS? Thanks.

No idea…

I have been on the Ti Aros for about 800 miles and they have held up and do ride well. The rim is most probably a Zipp with their spokes and hub. Good luck with your choice.

I race on the model before, the Cronos Carbon, my understanding was that it was a Zipp rim with Cane Creek’s own hub and titanium spokes. To me that is an advantage as the Zipp hubs have always been the weak link in the 404. I know so many guys who have had to rebuilt the back one. Not sure what the story is with the new wheel.

The Cane Creek Aros is basically the Reynolds Stratus DV. Notice they also have a Aros UL much like the Stratus UL. They’re both 46mm in depth and they both have the hidden spoke technology.

I was checking out wheel sites last night and came across Velocity. Their website is velocityusa.com. On the I.B.D link, the following is stated:

Check out our rims or wheels built by: American Classic Wheels Cane Creek Wheels Phil Wood & Company Velomax Wheels

Does Velocity make the rims for these companies? Does anyone know?

Nashbar has a rear Stratosphere wheel from Velocity on sale for $119. Does anyone know if Velocity’s hubs are any good? I’m thinking about this wheel and the monokote cover that Ken described for a cheap, light disk.
