I woke up several times in the middle of the night with stomach pain in my lower abdomen. This morning I’ve had mild to severe pain, but it seems to come and go. I work next to a hospital and I’m thinking of walking over and having it checked out, but I dont want to overreact if it’s just a bug or something.
lower right side or lower left side? my roomate had his appendix removed and the pain was really bad, he was not able to sleep period. pain started on the lower right side also lower back. he even puked because it was really painful, he just stayed in the fetal position before he rushed to the hospital.
It doesnt yet appear to be totally localized but if I had to say it hurst more on the right side.
Do overreact and go to the doctor asap… Waiting can turn a 1 day hospital stay into over a week if it ruptured happened to me and it sucks. However if its on the right side it may be a spleen either way i would go check

I had my appendix removed in february of this year. Each persons case will be different, so take this with a grain. You should push on your lower right abdomen, below and to the right of your belly button. Usually a good indicator of appendicitis is severe tenderness of this area. Depending on where your appendix is sitting, the pain levels will be different. When I went to the ER, 2 doctors and 1 nurse gave me a jab in the lower right. If you buckle in pain, you’ve got appendicitis. Good luck - Ernie
better to have it checked if the hospitals close-by. my friend
s appendix almost ruptured by the time the pain got so bad. he said before the massive tummy ache he felt he had a mild tummy ache which started in the upper part/stomach then went down to his right side.
what ernieK descibed is true. i too thought i had appendicitis and tested what the nurse did to him and no pain after jabbing that area hard. but i did go to the restroom and knew it was not my appendix giving me problems.
Go to the doctor. I had mine removed about 14 years ago.
The pain started out as feeling like a pulled or strained muscle above my stomach. I had been playing a lot of tennis the day before so i figured i pulled something. Next day i started to feel a little more localized discomfort. The 3rd day i was running a fever and felt constipated, i was curled up in the fetal position. If my girlfriend hadn’t made me go to the emergency room that night it would have been bad. When they were going in to remove my appendix it ruptured, i wound up being in the hospital for 4 days because my fever wouldn’t break from the rupture.
Better safe than sorry, see a doctor.

I’m similar to Mark - except I thought it was the Mexican food I had eaten the day before. Mexican for lunch on Sunday, puking Sunday night/Monday morning, stayed in bed in the fetal position on Monday. Went to the doc on Tuesday and was rushed to the emergency room. Had mine rupture while being extracted so I was in the hospital for a week. My pain was middle abdomen, not right or left side and my apendix had actually shifted from its normal position so it messed up my symptoms.
For me, when I pushed where it hurt I felt better but when I let go (especially quickly let go) it sent shooting pain everywhere. The doc said the ‘pull away quick’ test is a good apendix guage. Still, I’d go get it checked out.
Good luck,
Josh
ps - that was the best weight-loss program I was ever on. Lose an internal organ and be on liquid-only for a week=Dropped 15 pounds.
Get it checked. I had a slight burning sensation as I started a half-marathon. At six miles, I doubled over in pain. Was rushed to the hospital for an emergency appondectomy as it had burst. Doctor said he had quite a biit of clean-up to do inside of me. So, now I have something in common with Lisa Bentley, unfortunately, it’s not her speed.
Go to the Dr., they will take your blood if the white counts are high, it’s possible. Mine ruptured and my white blood cell count was through the roof…you don’t want that to happen…trust me!!
Second the weight loss.
The other thing i remember was watching Seinfeld the first night out of the hospital and doubling over in pain while watching the episode because it hurt so much to laugh. If memory serves me correct it was the Nipple episode. I had to change the chanel so i would not be in pain.

Get it checked out ASAP. In the past 6 years, I’ve known one person who died from complications resulting from a burst appendix and a second who spent about a month in the hospital with a raging infection. Both of them had some pain but put off going to the hospital.
This is one of those things you don’t want to mess around with.
SOrry i am a dumbass i didn’t look down to see my scar… appendix is on the right side lol

I waited a week, and had peritonite. Then two weeks in hospital after the operation to have the liquid slowly removed !
Not fun, especially when you have to stand up again for the first time.
Go see a doctor ASAP.
Thought I had appendicitis last year - same symptoms, terrible pain at night on 3 separate occassions, couldn’t sleep, etc. Turns out I had gallstones and actually had my gallbladder taken out. Still not sure exactly what the gallbladder does, but apparently you can live (and race) without one.
As everyone here has said - go get it checked - depending on the location it also could be your gall bladder - both my husband and I had attacks and had to have them out - usually happens if you have eaten a large meal that was heavy on red meat or fat - pizza did it to me since I normally eat very low fat
.
Well I’m still at work. The pain seems to have subsided some, but I’m still uncomfortable. I just dont want to overreact considering the my kid’s babysitter has had stomach “issues” over the last couple of days, my wife said that her stomach didnt feel good the other night and my son two nights ago said his stomach hurt.
last summer, one morning i went to bed with stomach pain. (im pretty prone to food poisoning so i figured thats what was wrong. i figured id be up in the middle of the night puking my guts out…didnt happen)…woke up the next more with what i would call ‘discomfort’, totally generalized to my lower abdomen area, nothing specific. i kept poking my appendix but it didnt hurt any worse than when i poked anywhere else. the more i walked around the house the more i hunched over. eventually i couldnt stand up straight. long story short, i had my appendix out by 1pm that day. the docs said that most appendicitis cases involve general discomfort not localized to a specific area, thats why so many people think they have a bad case of gas or some stomach ailment. which is also why appendixes can rupture. i always figured that appendicitis would be very sharp pain and very localized. it wasnt even close to that…bottom line, get your ass to the hospital and have it checked out.
Is it on the lateral side of your abdomen or more on the medial side (just below the ribs cage)? Is the pain constant or does it go away for a few hours? How far apart from your dinner did you feel the pain?
It’s lower in my abdomen. Some of the sharper pains seem to center right above my pelvic bone.
