Anyone else ready for spring?

I love winter and the skiing has been good this year, but this is getting to be a bit much. Switched my long run to this morning to avoid the tail end of the storm yesterday and this is what I woke up to:

Cold. Wimped out and did 1:40 on the treadmill. Ready for spring.

Ever since Al Gore saw his shadow and dashed back into his private jet to count the money he’s making selling energy credits, it’s seemed like Spring would never come.

.

Crap - that’s cold! I thought we were bad at -17C, but that works out to around 1F. Brrrrrrrr!!

I wouldn’t call running 1:40 on the treadmill “wimping out”, though.

Getting up to a balmy 0C today. I’m so excited.

Seventy degrees here yesterday and I am 60 miles north of San Francisco! Sadly it is supposed to drop down to 59 tomorrow…

I’m with Martin on this one. It was 58 last night. Brrrrr…

I’m definitely ready! It’s nice to actually workout after work and not be in the dark. I’ve got spring fever, big time. It’ll be a while until all of our snow melts, though.

I’ve had it too. It’s snowing and it’s about 18 degrees out. The temp isnt that bad but the snow ruins the road.

I am SO FREAKIN READY for spring.

I don’t remember a winter like this since I was a kid. Shoveling snow has become an every other day occurance. The side streets literally have 8 - 12 inch deep ruts in ice. The main roads are riddled with pot holes.

That must be rough. I do hate the winter (4 F in central MA this morning) but the consolation is there will be snow tonight and it is a 2 minute drive to where I can x-c on 20 miles of empty trails. Of course it will take 30 minutes before my fingers aren’t hurting from the cold.

59!!! if it was 59 here in MI id be out riding my bike…but since were getting 4 inches of snow right now ill go hop on the treadmill for an hour :frowning:

59 would be a paradise. I was chomping at the bit so bad to test out the road bike I built up this winter that I took it out for short spin last Sunday when it was a balmy 30 something but sunny.

I hear you.

I am so sick of shoveling and I haven’t had my bike on the road since October!

I also have a serious itch to RACE. First one is April 19th. Can’t come soon enough!

Jodi

Just think how much mentally tougher you hearty midwesterns are though? I feel for you not being able to ride for months at a time. That would be really tough for me. Do you go through pedaling withdrawls?

I have no shortage of pedaling, believe me. Just shortage of wind on my face! Trainer rides are getting tough- 3 hours this weekend- the first hour is in 45 minutes!

Please bring on spring! Even if the weather isn’t perfect (ok, it’s usually pretty nice here in SoCal), it means I’m closer to getting my ass out of the office every day and back on my bike, the trails and in the pool where I belong. Feb - Apr is limited to treadmill a couple of nights after my daughter goes to sleep, trainer in the garage and an occasional swim. Throw in a cold a few weeks ago, then 2.5 weeks with a bad back and I’m chomping at the bit!

That’s funny … big Al must have cast quite a shadow! Global warming must be a bit delayed with this winters cold spell … better burn more coal to warm things up

you too? Car thermometer was at 71 after my lunch time swim in an OUTDOOR pool…bathed in glorious, clear-blue skies!

Maine’s been wicked cold the past two days and we’re supposed to get snow tonight…
