After another disappointing run in the Clifton 2 (forefoot feels ‘dead’ inside the shoe and my right foot rolls out), I just bought 3 pairs of the Clifton 1s for $64/ each (City Sports) and an Challenger for $87 (shoesontheweb.com). The softness of the C1s are no where in the C2s in my opinion.
Anyone else hoarding these? I have a feeling it may be a while till Hoka fixes the Clifton

4 brand new boxes sitting on my shelf. Greatest purchase I made a while back once I realized my feet disliked the 2s. Also stocked up on the Haukas when running warehouse had their big sale. Between the 2 I have 8 pairs waiting…which is about perfect. lol
FYI, the wife unit is NOT happy.

Not hatin’ on 2. It just isn’t working for me. It is narrower. Not sure if because of padded tongue or something else, but I can’t lace them up not without huge gaps between the eyelets.
I dislike the 2’s so much that I elected to use my race flats for Kona. They lost one on their shoe count. Bad choice overall other than drainage. I need to find a few leftover pairs out there.
They just feel wrong, whereas the 1’s felt right. I like my Bondi’s better other than the weight.
I’ve got four new pair in boxes and actively looking for more.

i stocked up the last couple years on Bondis (got a stinson also and love that one) but those shoes last so long i still have 2 or 3 new pair waiting under the bed (storage). so yeah i’m hoarding but i live in a country where i depend on people to bring them to me as we lack both post and ability to buy here and i have yet to really wear out more than 1 pair. i have 3 i’m rotating now

Not Hoka’s but I bought about 8 pairs of the last shoe that really worked for me before they disappeared. Like the C1’s they were cheap becasue they were an older model when I bought them.
Lasted me about 4 years and now I am suffering trying different types of shoes. They usually work, but not as well. I should have bought 20 pairs.
I am hoarding 3 pairs of Clifton 1’s - i buy them wherever I can. In Kona the Hoka team said Clifton 3 coming out after Christmas.
Just bought a pair of Clifton 2s and I like them. First pair of Hoka’s so don’t have anything to compare them too. What makes them so much worse than the 1s and if I like the 2s would I love the 1s?
The 2s are a bit more responsive, at least in part due to the increase in the use of carbon rubber in the outsole for durability.
That said, to me it looks like the Odyssey is a Clifton 1 upper with a touch more cushion than the C2. Might be worth looking into.
Just bought 2 pair of 1s. Never tried the 2s but could resist the $71 price tag
I tried C2’s but didn’t fancy ripping my feet up just to bed them in; never known a shoe to have such a strange shape sole, its not like I have a wide foot. Also, only brand of shoe that has folks slicing the uppers to make them wider, crazy! Wonder if the C3’s will be built on a wider last? Probably just a new, more flexible upper - the adidas ESM upper would be superb on the C2…
the 1 is a great show. i use it instead of the 2 for racing or, will, when i can run again (got a knee thingy right now). but i saw something in kona that you didn’t see that will make you toss your clifton 1s, when it comes out. mind, the clifton 3 is coming i believe, but this is something else.
Dan, do I remember correctly you had mentioned a while back that Hoka had a more tri-specifc shoe in the works? Is this something along those lines?
The 2’s beat the shit out of my feet, gonna try to return them at the local spots store, they said they would take them back

I tried a pair of 2s and I got blisters. Changed socks and still had same problem. Never had this with my C1s so I decided to buy 4 more pair of C1s when they went on sale at a local store. I’m thinking about buying as many as I can but Slowman has me very curious what is on the horizon that will make me want to toss my C1s!?!?!?
