Just wondering if anyone here is doing Spud in Maryland this weekend. It will be my first triathlon after training with Powercranks. I am really interested to see how my bike split come out.
I’ll be there! Good Luck. Its my favorite tri. The roads are the smoothest, its the best bike coarse of all.
yea verily -
tho I shant walk through the shadowless valley of death
(i.e. the Blackwater Eagleman run course on a hot sunny day)
I fear only the new evil (to me…never done the Spud course before)
smooth roads and a short course win last weekend, they comfort me
as I gun for a new OD PR
on that last note…is this the usual Triathlantic distances - that is, give or take a half mile here and there? lord knows I love Brad and his races, but his GPS-measurement claims notwithstanding I can’t ever get my splits to agree with the posted markers.
I gotta admit, that’s something that I have to do better with. I GPS the swim course now, but in most of the placesthat I do these races, I can’t get GPS readings on a lot of the bike or run course. Most of the courses are what my truck measures it out to be. Thusly - Brad-certified. When we do the results, we try to factor in as exact as I can be the real distance so the mph and miles per minute are accurate.
I’m there. I think it may have filled up, not sure if it has in the past. For some reason I love this race. Maybe it’s the rollercoaster terrain with no really killer hills.
Will be 3rd consec year for me. The swim course length has varied the last 2 years, imho. The bike and run may be very slightly shorter than trad oly dist. But, it is what it is, same every yr, no course changes.

I will be there with other DC tri club folks. Always enjoy the low-key, homespun atmosphere of Brad’s races. Especially perfect for the first race of the season!!(yeah, i know i’m starting late)
I’ll be walking (hopefully running) the shadowless valley of death so won’t be at Spud’s. Would any of you that are going mind picking me up some Berger’s Cookies?! By far the best sponsor a race could ever have!
I’ll be there. The last 5-7 miles of the bike course are fairly hilly as is the run course.
