The swim was short last year. Not by much but it was. I have never swam that fast. Nice swim though. I would not suggest leaving your shoes on your bike as there is a hill directly out of T1. And it was raining last year. The guys who left their shoes attached to their bikes had issues with the rain and what not. The bike was pretty easy and nice. The run was fun fun fun. The first mile is flat along the lake and then you hit 3 significant hills which you have to go up and down 6 times (2 loop course). So take it easy that first loop.

would love to hear how this goes. i spend a lot of time in parry sound and am keen to do this one next year. such a beautiful area! is bialkowski sponsoring/putting it on?

John Salt with Multisportcanada puts it in. They have fairly well run events.

Bialkowski’s longest distance tri is an olympic, and was on August 14th. I haven’t done any of his events, but there’s usually a crew from Sudbury that head down for them. From what I’ve heard they great events that down’t quite draw the crowds that they should.

Last year the swim was a deep start, although there was a shallow area close by. Cleanest water I had been in all year.

Bike is great, pavement was a little rough for the first 10k and rolling (its Muskoka). After the turnaround the course trends down hill and with the prevailing wind.

Run was 3k of nice rail trail then some awful rollers. Up and down both sides, then around again.

Run didn’t seem to affect Allan Faulds but I wasn’t ready for that. He won the 35-39ag and overall by passing the pro in the second loop of the run.

Last year when I read the description on the website they mentioned a “challenging” bike ride. I found the bike was rolling but not too bad. Pretty much like Peterborough with longer rolling hills vs. the short steep climbs they have in Muskoka in June. The run was something else. You fly out of transition along the nice flat trail then when it ends the hills begin. I found it one of the harder runs I’ve done in a triathlon which was good for me since that is my strength and it allowed me to come from a long way back to win. I think there were only 3 or 4 people that managed to break 1:30 on the run so my advice is to take the first out and back conservatively.
