Just wondering…
Rip currents and big surf caused the swim to be cancelled (thanks to TS Bertha). Don’t know any more than that.
I did, no swim. 3 mile run/19 bike/3 mile run. I’m not sure if the run was even three miles, my times were fast for me. I won’t do this race again next year. Just didn’t have a good experience. VERY crowded transition area, spectators inside, people on their beach cruisers on the the bike course.

Friend of mine gave me a report that sounds like it was a bit sloppy: bike distance on the oly was shortened, lot of cars on the bike course and problems with racers being put in the correct distances in the results. I love asbury park and this is the sort of event the town needs, but they need to get things right down there.
Yes last year was a mess…probably best to avoid this race in the future

My girlfriend did the sprint race… her first ever under my influence!
She was disappointed that the swim was canceled, but even the news was talking about bad rip currents. It sounds like the course was awfully short. The 5k run was split in half, but was barely over a mile each time. Racers had to count their own laps on the 12 mile bike as they went around 3 times. Apparently it was newly paved at least. The Jersey Shore Tri club was well represented, but it still sounds like it was kind of a mess.
I’m glad I decided to do Diamond in the Rough in MD instead of going up there to do Metroman.
I did the Metroman yesterday. They made a weird call after canceling the swim; the run was split, 5k before and after the bike. The run was nowhere near 5k; probably more like 2.25-2.5 miles. The bike was ok; 5 loops crit style over decent roads. I have never done a more dis/under-organized race…no security in transition, no crowd control on the run course, no food (I mean **none **) until 1.5 hours after the race was over, confusion over restrooms…not recommended.
Why anyone would do such a race, when the entire set of information about the race on their web site is

This race was absolutely awful last year. Sounds to have been the same this year, NO security, no rules enforced, mistakes in timing, NO FOOD at all and but few cups of water on a table. The race results were corrected and re-corrected for 3 weeks after the race. How many people wasted their money and showed up this year?
