Noticed that the claimed weight dropped by 50 grams. So now same weight as carbon braided rails that will not work on the P4.
Anyone know about any other differences between the two versions? Price being less than $110 it seems like a great deal.

Hello Bartturner
The weight remains the same for the kium version as well as for the braided carbon. The difference between 2009 and 2010 versions is the new monocoque cover design (no seams).

Why do web sites list the weight at 199g now for the Fizik Arione Tri 2 Kium? They use to list it as 249g. Has the seat lost 50g?
I purchased this seat and the package indicated 249g. http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=S0139
But it also definitely had a seam. I think they sent me a 2009 model most likely. How do you tell the model year by the package?
Hi
There are several different versions of this saddle, and yes, it can be hard to understand by the ‘names’ of the saddles.
Arione Tri 2 with nylon/carbon reinforced base and k:ium rails is listed at 239 grams.
Arione Tri 2 with FULL CARBON base and k:ium rails is listed at 209 grams.
Arione Tri 2 with nylon/carbon reinforced base and braided carbon rails is listed at 199 grams.
Arione Tri 2 with FULL CARBON base and braided carbon rails is listed at 189 grams.
Essentially, there are two versions of rails (k:ium vs braided carbon) and two versions of shells (nylon/carbon reinforced vs twin-flex carbon). I hope this helps explain the varying weight differences.
Cheers

Well that is confusing.
It appears many web sites just list the weight incorrectly in 2010. They did not in 2009.
The weight is clearly listed on the package so it is somewhat surprising there is a problem.
Many sites list the “Arione Tri 2 with nylon/carbon reinforced base and k:ium rails” as 199 grams.
You might do a quick google search and tell the companies that are listing the product incorrectly. Returning product because of such errors is not good for anyone and creates bad will.
With so many with the exact same error it would seem that maybe it came incorrectly from Fizik.
The error also hurts the companies that list it correctly.
A plug for ProBikeKit.com. I purchased the saddle from them. Told them about the error. They did an investigation and found out it was listed incorrectly. Just checked and they updated their web site. I have things like this happen before and pointed an error out to the company and they did not fix the web site afterwards. Kudos to PBK!!
I did a quick Google search on “Arione Tri 2 k:ium 199”. Over 20 came back listed wrong. Here is just one example at Performance Bike.
In closing, this ended up wasting a lot of my time. First finding one listed at 199, then purchasing, then after receiving contacting PBK and asking what was up, then them investigating why it was wrong, then me getting a return authorization, me packaging the seat, taking the seat to the post office, filling out all of the forms including custom forms, sending the package, making sure I was reimbursed for the shipping, thanking PBK and telling them I don’t believe the error was their fault.
In the end it also cost me money in addition to my time. I was not able to get my credit card company to reimburse me for my foreign transaction.
I am sure Fizik is a great company but this is my first experience and not very happy.
Thanks!
I am really sorry that the weight discrepancies have caused you so much stress. I will inform my colleagues in Italy.
WAAAAAAAAA!!! Your whining about 50grams! That is the weight of a snot rocket! Get over it. Fizik is a great company and puts out great products.
More important. Which of these versions is the most comfortable. A couple of ounces isn’t going to make a dif.
It is not about the weight. It is about the saddle being improperly marketed. I am sure Fizik is a great company. But they have this wrong.
If the web site advertise 199g clearly then you expect it to be. Otherwise list nothing or list it correctly.
