I have always been a Northwave guy, but my shop is now pretty much all Sidi. I can get a good deal on some shoes (which is good because they are PRICEY!)
Any tips - how they run (big/small), long lasting, do those ratchet things hold up?
Any info. at all would ge great.
Oh, and this is for road shoes, not tri shoes…(6.6’s are what I am looking at).
I have two pair, one road shoe, one mtb. They are the best shoe that I’ve ever had. My road shoes are 5+ years
old and still look like they could be used another 10 years. I have non-sidi tri shoes and don’t like them. I’ll probably get some Sidi’s this spring. Can’t comment on the size, go try them on.
One of the best cycling shoes out there. Very long lasting, so a good value if you keep your shoes a while as they are a touch pricey. They do tend to run just a bit narrow in the forefoot as the jedi mentioned. As with all shoes, fit is still #1 (I don’t wear Sidi) so try em’ on!
same here…excellent shoes. been riding them for 6 years and never had an issue. i have a narrower foot and they fit nicely. i have a their top of the line tri shoe T2.6 and the Genius 5 or something carbon sole road shoe as well. don’t think i’ll ever switch to another brand.
The best, pretty much impossible to wear out. The new clips work great but I always keep a spare set in my race back “just in case”.
Fit the shoe to your arch, not your toes. You’ll be using them a long time.
I’ve got their road, tri and mountain bike shoes. I’ve worn Lake and LG but after Sidi, I wouldn’t wear any other brand. I’ve got the Dominator MTB shoe that has a ratchet. The system is great and I would have no issues with buying other set. The only problem I’ve had with the ratchet is after riding in high grass, having grass seed stuck in the ratchet. It’s happened a few times. To get out I need to tighten the ratchet and then loosen it. The ability to tighten the shoes on the fly after hitting a puddle far outweighs the minor drawback. I’m not sure how they fit; I’ve only worn the women’s shoes.
I have used Sidi shoes for almost all of my cycling career, 20+ years. They fit my feet really well and are comfortable. Having said that if you are a Northwave fan then I would consider trying the Mega width in the Sidi shoes. The standard are quite narrow through the forefoot which works well for me, my feet get lost inside Northwave or Louis Garneau shoes and I can never get the upper tight enough.
I wear 6.6 and they’re really nice. From the fit of my Genius from 2005, I sized down 1/2. Slightly different toe box shape compared to Sidi pre-2006. Now just a side note, I took a crash this past October and was bummed to had scraped up the outside part of the shoe. So, when I bored healing up and fixing my crashed equipment, I thought, “Hmm, this Lorica upper is basically a microfiber synthetic. I wonder what would happen if I ran the ski waxing iron over the scuff?” So, I warmed it up washed off the scuff and touched the iron to the scuff for probably no more than a count of 2 seconds and would you believe it smoothened it out pretty darn good? The icing on the cake was that I showed it to my wife who is a wildlife painter and she said, “Gimme that.” She took her very fine paintbrush and fixed the little stripe on the shoe and now they look just how they did before I slid down the road on by back.
Sidis are really good. Expensive but if you like top shoes and if you wear Northwave, it sounds like you do appreciate good shoes, get 'em.
YES! I honestly have the worst feet in the world, they have been broken in 4 places each (surgically), they are so bad I almost cannot do long course. The Sidi’s are like a dream. I’m not sure I could ride without them.
I wear size 6.5 dress shoes, 7.5 running shoes, and size 40 Sidi Genius (ladies).
Don’t have much to add. Mine are 5 years old and have been soaked with sweat on almost every ride and they are going strong. And, it’s the only pair of shoes I have ever owned that I can take a Phillips head screwdriver to and replace parts.
Sometimes you pay a lot of money for a product and its not worth it. Sidi’s are.
Unless things have changed, they run pretty small.
I have a pair of genius 4’s for about 6 years. They’re finally starting to get flexible in the sole and they were a bit too expensive to replace. If I could have found a good deal on new ones at the time I’d definitely buy them again. For me they seemed to run pretty true to size compared to my new shoes and my tri shoes. Plus, you can replace the strap and buckle if you ever need to.
you would have to look a while before finding better shoes.
Great shoe. I have Genius 5 Road shoes and dominator Mt. Shoe. They are great because the have replaceable parts and come in 1/2 sizes. Love them and will never ride anything else.
I have the ERGO 2’s. They are very pricey but I have a very narrow heel and they have 2 screws in the rear that you can use to tighten just the heel part of the shoe. All other shoes are to loose in the heal for me.
Same here, I like Sidis because they run narrow and fit my feet very well. I’ve had a pair of road shoes for almost 15 years that I still wear on most of my longer stuff, they just “feel like home.”
Got a pair, they’re just ok for me.
to be honest, the left one’s pretty good; the right one is fine for around 20 miles then it starts to get uncomfortable. wish i’d known about the wider widths when i got this pair,
maybe it’s just me, but i find it’s hard to figure out what shoes’ll be comfortable, because what you do w/them on the bike is do different from walking around in them at the store. it’s not a shoe you get to walk around in.
