Hi Guys,
I’m getting a TACX NEO trainer and would like to learn how to load real (outdoor) rides from my Garmin Connect log in order to ride them stationary.
I guess I first have to export the ride file (As GPX ? or “Export to Google Earth” ? )
Is it possible to get the real view of the road ahead like in the below photo ?
you need the software and a google license. I have the Real World of Ironman Wales and find it enjoyable. I had to upgrade the video card to handle the graphics.
Tacx has a forum that may the information you are seeking:
You can also use BestBike split to create a course profile with target watts, etc. then upload that to your Garmin and use the BBS app to display your target and actual watts throughout the ride. How that jives with real-time video…beats me.
Another option is Rouvy. You can import a .fit file to produce a route map such as the one you show on the right. You need the PC version to do this import but once done Rouvy also supports iOS to run the route. For example, I use an iPad to control a Neo. Rouvy displays the summary statistics on the left of the screen (e.g. average and current power, speed, HR, cadence, time, distance ridden, distance to go) and an elevation profile across the bottom of the screen.
As a step further, Rouvy allows you to upload video files along with gpx routes to create your own real-world virtual rides. Can only be done on a PC, but installing the software and adding new routes is free, and pretty easy, if you have all the proper gear. I’ve done a few rides with my garmin virb elite and then gone back and ridden them indoors with video from the ride. Best ones are created with car/moto since the video doesn’t swing back and forth, but a helmet mounted camera is okay on the bike. Bar mounted video feels like your’e trying to ride on a boat.
