The seat screw has fallen out of my K-Factor after transport from an Ironman. My LBS stuck a really ugly bolt in so that I could ride today. It’s embarrassing and I will change bike shops as a result of their lack of trying to find the proper replacement part.

I hope they can help, otherwise go to a hardware store…I have 5 kuotas between my wife and myself.

So you are dropping your bike shop all because they helped you out in the same day so that you could go on a bike ride?? They probably put the bolt into the bike so that you didn’t have to leave the bike with them. Also it’s near impossible to have every single bolt in stock at the random chance that someone needs that particular size. An emergency on your part does not constitute an emergency on theirs. Support and appreciate your LBS.
I left the bike for 5 days and paid over $200 for a tune that had also been completed one ride earlier, before IM Cabo San Lucas and I told them as much. I am a huge LBS supporter, but in return, I expect the LBS to provide answers over the course of a work week and not just leave me with the problem to solve on my own.
So…what’s the problem?
Just take the bolt out and take it to Home Depot, there is nothing special about it. Just get a stainless steel bolt, it will cost you about $1 tops. They can help you figure out the gauge of bolt and threads that you need. If that is installed to where you want it, wrap tape around it next to the frame so you know what length to get.
