I’m looking at flights to go to Cancun for the 70.3 race in Sept. and I found a pretty good deal with Spirit Airlines, but I never have heard of them. Has anyone had a good or bad experience with them?
a couple of times years ago - - I had no issues with them and would again.
Last contact I had with them in April, they informed me that bikes fly free overseas.
My parents are regulars and swear by them. Cheap and reliable. They fly from Detroit to Florida a number of times in the winter. Spirit is primarily a vacation destination company and are based out of Detroit (I think). Check into their baggage policy. I think they only let you have 2 bags period and charge some cash for the third. Have fun in Cancun!
WARNING !!! WARNING!!!
Spirit now charges for ANY luggage!!! They are charging $10.00 per bag/Per direction. I believe bikes are now $100.00!!!
I am flying to Detroit from Vegas, and they have changed some of the rules. They sell snacks as opposed to offering them complimentary, and to buy one, you can ONLY use a credit card. Same thing with drinks. Water is free and EVERYTHING else has a charge.
Look at the website. They seem to be hiding these fees pretty well. I bought my tickets from a travel website and they had no idea that Spirit charged for your luggage.
