Any TEACHERS ready to train?

With the last day with the kids tomorrow for us Lake County Florida Teachers, are there any other tri-teachers looking forward to starting tri training season? …and more importantly for me spending some time durig the day for a couple weeks with Kimbo215 and Gavin…

I shudder to think what final exam you had for your kids. A run around the block? A race with hungry gators? An ironman or two?

Kevin- you teach phys ed, me too. Love it- my kids are all high school exmaination kids and left three weeks ago… so been doing the part time thing at work… and training a bunch- Just love this job

Are there any Hottie Single Tri-Teachers in lake county :))))))
.

I’m there.

Training has taken a backseat to basically everything lately. I’ve basically just trained enough to “not lose fitness”. I teach Biology and Physical Science.

Right now, since school’s out, my life is playing with my young kids, training for IM, and getting the pitchers ready for sectionals. I’m loving it … and we grill every night.

I am looking forward to the 20-hour training weeks (done by noon, family time in evening)

Hi teachers,

Do any of you know if it is generally possible for people to switch into teaching jobs without a degree in education? I have a degree in engineering and an MBA and currently work for in marketing for a manufacturing company, but am exploring alternate career options.

Thanks,

Matt

Find Carney-Sandoe online. They are an agency that specializes in finding positions in private schools throughout the nation. They are hardly the only game in town, but they are well known, efficient, and national. Private schools don’t have the same restrictions as public schools do. That said, there are many public school districts that will grant a provisional teaching certificate while a candidate works towards a degree in education. Just gird your loins well for the study of this material can be a test of your strength and endurance, but not your intelligence. There is an advantage to having a major in a subject area with the education material stuck on at the end rather than vice-versa.

In response to this general thread, my final is given in one week and I’m ready to get out for some serious training. I teach Chemistry. Unlike Florida, our weather is still in the 60’s so lake swimming is not likely in the near future. However, my first tri is scheduled for June 19. Brrrr…

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh, summer, beautiful summer!!!

Three best things about teaching…June, July, August = swim, bike, run.

Two more weeks…two more weeks…and one of those weeks I’ll be off on my honeymoon, so it’s more like one more week of school. To answer your question, yes I’m ready for school to be over and to go out and train. My soon to be new wife is also off for this summer, so we should have lots of fun and time for some good cross training…if you know what I mean

We have 1 more week of school here at a private school in MA. Teaching never really interferes with my training, it is the coaching aspect of my job that takes away all my free afternoon time. With that said we played our last lacrosse game yesterday and I am ready for my first afternoon run in weeks today. No more early morning runs until September. It is a shame it’s raining…

Carney Sandoe is the way to go if you want a private school job, although be ready to do more than just teach. At my school just about everyone teaches 4 classes, coaches/leads 2 activities, and does some sort of dormitory work. Plus you give up a lot of your weekends for school related activities. You have to really want to live in a community like this.

How much time do teachers get of in America?

Generally 12 weeks in the summer, 1 week at Christmas, 1 week at Easter, and about every other Monday for various holidays.
