Any Prelim results from NYC Tri?

Anyone race there today?

I think i know the elite race results…well, close to the final results. I’ve used the athlete tracker to sort through results. You could try that too.

I did the race. I think there were some timing issues, as I crossed the line, the race announcer said over the loudspeaker that I had broken 2 hours, and figured on 1:58 and change. They had me at 2:02 (which could be timing, or could be a penalty since I lost my water bottle as I pulled out of transition).

Got to ride with the eventual elite winner on Saturday since the cycling coach of the U-23 team is my tri coach (Brian Walton) and they were fun…young…and pretty cocky. He threw up on himself and his sister as he finished.

It was a good race other than the timing screwups. Biking on the West Side Highway is amazing. I’ll see you guys at Lake Placid! Can’t wait to go up and do that race.

eganski
ps. results still have yet to be posted, things are a little screwed up.

Why the secret? Who won?

Trust

oh…sorry.

Jarrod Shoemaker won (I think Victor Plata got 2nd)

Thanks
.

what about the age group results?

I won the Athena 40+ !!

The two pro men who were leading on the first lap of the run took a wrong turn heading into their second lap and were passed because of it - there was no race official/volunteer pointing them where to run. Sad to see.

That’s great. He is a really good guy. He’s really taking off this year on the ITU circuit. Would have won Collegiate Nationals (he is a grad student at BC) if not for a drafting penalty, which it sounds like was a close call. Cross-country background, but also a good swimmer. Seriously fast runner… He was one of the top 5K guys in the NCAA…

what about the age group results?
Bump. Any updates out there?

They didn’t use sportstats.ca for timing did they?

the ITU results are posted on www.duathlon.com

the age group results seem to be still missing
.

I have a feeling there close to posting the results. I just went to the Athlete Tracker,(http://triathlons.accenture.com/NewYork/tracking/SelectAthlete.aspx?go=stats) punched in my name, and saw my spilts. I tried it again a few minutes later, and all they had were my stats.

Aparently Stefan “the Kaiser” Kusurelis (slowtwitch dude) was 15th overall and 4th on 35-39. Not bad for a long course telephone pole of a guy :-). Congrats to the Kaiser

Good thing NYC is no longer bidding for the Olympics. This race was supposed to showcase NYC’s ability to hold a world-class athletic event, including triathlon, in the city itself…can’t even get timing correct and results on- line in a timely fashion?..

I think 5th in the ag.(?) More important, my sbr team won the team awards. The 3 fastest female and male riders of a team counted for it. We had actually only 7 people racing yesterday. Our girls really moved, two age group wins and one second place. The guys, oh well…
What a experience though to race this distance again after 3 years of long steady miles. I was never sure where to put my heart rate. Looking forward to another one.

Stefan

Stefan, as Udo Bolts says, “suffer you pig”…this is the only way to race Olympic tri…are you including yourself with the "ladies team " :-).

I can find my own results (3rd a.g.), plus all the clever graphs that go with them, plus the finish line video of myself, but the full results don’t seem to be anywhere yet. I asked bunches of people yesterday where the results were going to be posted, and a couple guys told me that other times they have done the race they never saw results. What the…??

Somebody made a comment about Sportstats, and they are absolutely right. Sportstats handled almost the exact-sized field at IMLP last July, and the results were up by the food tent and being added-to every few minutes. The NYCTri people could also go to Lin-Mark for their timing - Mark and Linda live right next door in NJ, and do an awesome job.

Really, this timing business is inexcusable, especiially if it is an annual happening. All of the Accenture bells and whistles are fine — but only if they accompany timely results.

Otherwise, it is a terrific race, with each segment having its own gems. The date next year (June 18) will almost certainly clash with Muskoka, and then I’ll have to make a tough choice, but I think I’ll return to NYC.

(I was standing there watching as the male elites got confused, and that seemed unfortunate. However, wouldn’t one figure that a pro/elite would make it his/her responsibility to know the course beforehand? It was a three-loop run – pretty easy to walk through the day before, I would guess. Yes, there maybe should’ve been a truly visible marshal there, but some of the onus for knowing the elite course should rest on the athletes themselves…yes?)

…are you including yourself with the "ladies team "

I seriously tried, but was discovered because of my 6’-6" frame. :o)
It’s already bad enough that the team award had been given out by the sbr store. Now that the team won, I can hear already the complaints about doctored results. But hey, the numbers don’t lie…
One of our females placed third in IM Austria just last weekend, and than again here in NY an week later. Now, THESE girls are studs! We are just posers.
Stefan

Kaiser Kus, at 5’6" 140 lbs, do you think I might qualify for the SBR ladies team ? Then again, I might be too slow :-). In any event, congrats on a great race !
