I realize he’s a MOP at the TDF, but he’s a great single day rider. Never met the guy, but he’s always struck me as likely being a good guy to have a chat and beer with after a ride.
For some reason he’s always struck as a personable decent approachable guy, even though I’ve never met him. If there was any pro I could go for a one on one fun ride with, he strikes me as being the guy.
you are absolutely correct. Sat at chatted with him for a while at the Tour of CA. Quite the sweetie and VERY approachable. I also like rooting for our local guys! If I were not on a mac I would post our picture together.
Excellent. Thanks for the url. You’ve gotta like the guy even if you’ve never met him.
BTW Gary, your PM about the Q rings was bang on. We did the group hill ride tonight and they felt great.
Full report to follow very soon, like next week. I wanted to get 500 miles or so under my belt first. You’re promoting a great product. Realize also that I was probably your biggest sceptic. Now I’m a believer.
Where you been dude? Nice to see you’re posting again. Or have you always been but under a different alias? Haven’t seen a “jaylew” for awhile. Or maybe I’m just not that observant.
Does Saunders have his “closing doors” rant from Pro up anywhere? That is probably the greatest, most accurate rambling description of bike racing tactics ever.
Interesting to see that Saunders said that Horner only ever talks about bike racing. He in interviews make the most detailed, interesting comments on tactics I have ever heard. He could be a fantastic commentator someday. Or DS, I would think.
He currently does a daily 5 min video interview on velonews that I think is fascinating.
My guess, is that like most pros he is a dick, but an entertaining and smart dick.

I totally agree. I love listening to him talk cycling. You can really tell the guy just loves the sport. I don’t get that feeling from most of the other riders. I think he’d make a great commentator or DS.

I gave up training for a long time, so I haven’t been around as much. Reading posts here just made me feel guilty. I started up again a few weeks ago, but I’m finding the going tough. My 1st multisport race in over a year was Sunday and ended in a DNF.
