Any opinions on H2O Audio?

Was thinking of picking one up this winter when my swim training starts again. Anybody have any experience with it?

I have one. A bit cumbersome when swimming, I would wear it around my waist with the extension belt. Plus the earplugs fall out once I started swimming. I would get the ones that latch onto the back of your hear if you do decide to get one.

In then end I only used it 2-3 times. It just got in the way on my work out.

I actually got one of the new ones that holds your ipod shuffle. I just can’t seem to get the headphones to stay in my ear and spent more time messing with that than swimming, so I have discarded it. Luckily I got it for free, so it was an easy choice to toss it in a drawer.

Wow, 2 for 2 on the headphones sucking. Totally rethinking this. I am leaning towards a no on the purchase now. Thanks for the insights,

If you have a shuffle, I will send you mine for $30.

same!!!

I use it and it works ok. The biggest problem is that you really have to put them in with your ears dry, once they are out in the pool they really don’t stay in very well. They come with a number of sizes for the earplug part and it’s irritating because you have to try one a day as it takes a while for my ears to dry out enough to repeat the test. In the end, I found a size that works and stays in. I use it pretty frequently and only have issues if I am doing fast intervals and push off the wall really hard. You have to tuck the wire under your goggle strap. Number one benefit: I can ignore the rest of the people in the pool that want to talk swim technique or compare swim times. Not that I am antisocial but I swim at lunch and have limited time. Sort of the way I wield earphones and a book on a flight.

I got a swimp3 player as a gift this year and it honestly the best thing for pounding out laps in the pool. I can’t speak to the h2o audio but it is nice to have some tunes in the pool.

Look at the Finis version. It doesn’t go in the ears, so may be much less a PIA.

I agree on the Swimp3 player. I have an Endless Pool which can get rather boring at times but the Swimp3 player helped break the bordom on my longer swims.

I have one and I love it. the ear buds do take time to find the right size, so that they stay in.

Don’t do it. I own an older Swimp3 and bought an H20 audio earlier this year. The ear bud “technology” in the H2O is not practical. It just takes too much fiddling both before and during to hav a meaningful workout. I am just about to unload mine on classifieds for cheap.

I have both the swimmp3 and the h20audio. After getting the right size earbud (diff sizes each ear) can’t imagine a swim without the h20audio. the finis paddles on the jaw bones flipped up in the water more frequently than the buds fall out AND u can’t hear jack with the swimmp3 out of water with kicks. Instead of attaching the case to the goggles, bought a hair headband and attach it to that. Guy I let try it out in the pool pulled his cap over the ears and had no problems. For what’s on the market it gets my vote.

Full disclosure - product tested for them this summer with swims ranging from 4-14 hours. Still working great - shuffle model.

same, also, lucky I got mine for free. Though I have read there are quite a few things you can do to try to help, but haven’t had a chance to try them.

A good friend is an importer of swim accessories and has had the various traditional ear bud types but has dropped them all. They now carry the Finis bone conduction system and he says it is much better but still rather tough to get used to. He says you still need to wear ear plugs. I’m going to get a sample from him to try it and I’ll report back.

I reviewed the H20 Audio Interval here: http://bit.ly/1puhli

Short answer: it works but the sound disappeared when water slipped in. It happened to me on every flip turn, so at my rest intervals I had to tap the buds to get them working. It’s an OK solution, but some may find the hassle not worthwhile.

I LOVE my interval.

I’ve been swimming since February, off and on through summer and more regularly the last few months. I bought the Interval a couple months ago and my workouts DOUBLED overnight. I just instantly found it that much easier to stay in the water longer.

I now do 1.5-2 miles almost every day in the pool.

Using the Interval and pushing more miles in the pool was what made me really make up my mind about trying a triathlon next year.

My buds occasionally pop out, but they usually stay put. I have tried out other swimmers’ Swimp3 units and they don’t compare to the full range sounds of the Surge earbuds.

If you get one, you really need to experiment with the different size earbuds. It is common to wear a size too large. If one size feels right, also swim with the sizes one bigger and one smaller to be sure.

I have used one almost daily for months and no leaks in the case and HATE swimming without it. (I had one workout when the battery died and it really got me mad.)

For those of you that mothballed 'em, I’m interested in both a spare Interval, and a spare Shuffle…

I didn’t have the luxury before my purchase, but if you can, borrow one first to assure yourself whichever way you go.

I paid for mine.

I couldn’t get the earbud to stay i my ears. I took it out of my bag and after sitting on my desk I tossed them.

Great idea, but I don’t think they work.

Natalie looks good wearing them tho.

I LOVE my interval.

So, what relationship do you have with this company?

I noticed that you have only posted twice on this forum, both times to give glowing review of the H2O Audio system. That makes me think that you are affiliated with the company. Which, in turn, makes me care a whole lot less about your ‘opinion’ of the product.

I can see your point, 2 for 2.

I’m a new user. Browsing for a while.

Being a complete newbie, I don’t have much to contribute yet, but I know what I know, if ya know…

A lot of what goes on here is either over my head, or I don’t have experience with yet.

For example, I haven’t had a VO2 max test yet, or shoe fittings, and I don’t own a HRM. And most of the equipment/brand names mean nothing to me so early in.

I did just buy a pair of bike shoes yesterday, and I put the new pedals on my mountain bike a few minutes ago. I think I am about to go out in the yard and fall over a few times…

i bought a computer with cadence last week, and I picked up smooth tires last night with the shoes and pedals.

Hopefully that shows that I am getting into the sport.

Perhaps I’ll have some questions to ask soon about the bike. Like how do I know where to tighten the cleats on the shoes…

Oh, and I’ll give you a negative on the Interval too to balance it out.

Be VERY careful with the clips on the back. They are molded as one piece with the body and are fragile. I broke one trying to move it from my goggles to a headband. Luckily for me it was under 30 days and BestBuy exchanged it for me.
