Any of you have any kind of rack or display of your race medals?

I’ve done a lot of races over the years, and I find that ironman branded races have great finishing medals… So far I’ve just been storing them in a box in my closet, but I think it would be cool to have them displayed somewhere in my house. But u don’t just wanna have them hanging from a nail in the wall, I’d like it to look really nice. Any ideas? Feel free to share pics of how you display yours

Thanks

Not exactly fancy, but easy and cheap. I have them hanging in my personal closet on dollar stores hooks Why? My theory is that no one besides myself cares about my age group medals. Finishers, stay in the box unless they are unique somehow.

They do custom work also… great stuff.

If you take out the 3rd place overall at the mile for 4th grade field day you wouldn’t have so many. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nice collection, medals are so much nicer than trophies, trophies eat so much space!

I’ve cut the ribbon off most of them and epoxied a magnet (or two) to the back. They are stuck all over the beer fridge.

not my collection… someone that they have posted on their website… I can’t wrap my head around how many events that must be…

I currently give all of mine to my 7 year old (he was 6 when this practice started), he keeps them all in a drawer in his bedroom. He seems to really enjoy having them. He will occasionally put them all around his neck and come out and show me.

Cardboard box in the attic is good enough. The circular file is almost as good.

I don’t think many people need or want to be reminded.

What I’ve done instead is keep all of my race numbers. I started out using one of those cheap poster frames from target and held the race behind the clear plastic. Now I’ve upgraded to basically a corkboard square that I attach the bibs to. I’d rather look at something I used at the race rather than a finishers medal.

Anyway, I bonded a strip of hooks from Home Depot to the sides. This gives enough spots to hang the important medals (like collegiate champs at Wildflower) to the board as well. It’s not ideal for someone with a ton of medals, but works well for my purposes.

These guys are pretty good, will do custom work as well.

I have 2 nails in the walls of my garage, in random places.
They were already there. I hang the medals on them.
It’s a FinMan-esque mosh pit of ribbons and metal.

When they get too full, I guess I’ll need another nail…

I’ve started doing the magnet thing with ones I actually like. Still get to see them, plus they serve a functional purpose.

Mine are in a desk drawer.

Now my glasswear get used. (i,e, the very cool AZ duathlon beer mugs)

We have all our IM metals on racks like the ones in the photos. I also have a bunch of half IM and marathon medals threaded on curtain rods to cover the windows in the basement workout room. We took a bunch of our local running medals, shorter tri’s etc. and cut the ribbons short. We use them at christmas to decorate the tree. They stay in a bag in the attic the rest of the year.

I currently just place them in a german glass boot, like from Oktoberfest, about 2 feet tall, monogrammed, groomsman gift, with the ribbons hangining out. Also throw other random chatchkes in there. Looks kinda cool with all the smorgasbord of colors.

Donate them:

Some kids have all of mine. Even Kona and Boston.

I tossed almost all of mine when we moved last week. I’m not sure why I was even saving them. Age group medals aren’t that hard to come by if you are persistent and pick your races carefully. Finishing a race is even easier.

I kept three that had some meaning to me.

Cardboard box in the basement. Medals, bibs, plaques, glassware, etc., don’t do much for me. I do have the water bottles (as part of race swag) handy though! They’re useful. And AmZof beer mugs. . . more useful.
