Any Harm in Buying Refurbished Garmin?

Amazon has refurbished 310xts for $189, plus $5 shipping. HRM is not included but, at this point, is not necessary. Any experience in going for a refurb like this?

There’s no risk as far as the quality - but the warranty on the refurbs is short. I have a refurbed Forerunner 305, and it’s lasted me 2 years now - but that being said, my wife had one and it died in about 8 months. I guess it’s just a risk that is associated with electronics that are used in high-intensity athletic activities

Also, can you post a link? I wouldn’t mind a 310xt for that price!!

No and if you’d need to replace a new garmin with them via warranty you will get a refurb so in the end you may end up with one anyways
.

like it’s has been stated, the warranty on refurbished units is short, exactly 90 I think! I bought a refurbished 305 and it last about 7-8 months, then $80 to get it refurbished again(I bought a 910 instead)! However, Amazon usually offers a pretty good independent warranty that would be worth purchasing, especially considering how much your already saving

My 310XT stopped acquiring satellites a few months back. Sent it back and got a refurbished one back in 3 days. Using it everyday and works greats. No problems.

Thanks for the post, i had the same question this week after i saw the price on amazon as well. I think i am going to grab one and hope for the best.

Not specific to Garmin watches, but in general data has shown that refurbished electronics last longer–on average–than new original electronics. I forget where I read that (maybe Consumer Reports) or I would provide a link. Just something to consider.

I’d recalled reading the same report…just wasn’t sure about Garmin’s attitudes about buying refurbished goods from anyone other than them.

All of this said, the missus shot down my notion of getting even a refurb’d 310xt, so best wishes to whomever grabs the lone one listed at $189:

When you click on the link, it says the watch is new and Amazon doesn’t allow

I purchased a refurbished 705 about 5 years ago from Garmin directly. I have used it 4-6 days a week over that time and it still works just like it did day one.

It just sounds so dirty.

I got a refirbished watch when I sent mine in for repair. Looks like it’s brand new, works that way too.
