Any gout sufferer's on here?

Sadly having to create this post having just got through another attack that I wasn’t able to control as well. Limping around for close to a month, barely any exercise :frowning:

Pretty sure it’s gout. Blood plasma level was 406 which is on the high end but not an obvious indicator.

I had very similar symptoms 6 years ago and have been able to control around half a dozen since then very well with the right medication (gone within a day, no proper flare up)

Unfortunately this one lasted, hence the post. It was bad, got bit better but never went away, then bad again, then better…

No idea what caused it. Was on holiday in Greece. Nice food, hot weather maybe, a couple of beers, but I barely drink alcohol. I had done an Ironman 3 weeks before.

Anyway, the main point of posting here is that I may have to be smarter about this and maybe start taking Allopurinol. My doc has given me 100mg to start with. Then we can measure my levels again after Xmas.

I haven’t taken it yet as my toe joint is only just feeling stronger and able to walk on it. I’m also waiting on an x-ray result - just to rule out a fracture. I should note there is a lump that’s formed which is likely to be tophi, but I’m told Allo will help dissolve this too. I really hope so.

What I would really like to know from anyone is whether there have been any nasty side affects whilst taking it, especially when It comes to training? I’m also reading it can be damaging to the kidneys, but that said, the amount of anti-inflammatory tablets I’ve had to take over the past month had prob been worse

Any other sufferer’s advice would be massively appreciated :+1::+1:

Thanks
