Any fellas use an electric razor for your face?

Anybody use a good one? Shaving my face with a razor in the dry winter is really rough on my skin, but last time I used an electric (albeit about 10 years ago), it just wasnt that close.

I dont expect to get as close as a razor, but are there any good models that at least do a solid job. I have a pretty thick scruff.

Any good models you guys use???

If you do a quick search, there were a few similar threads not too long ago.

No, just my balls.

I got the Braun 8000 series for christmas ($200). Just as much irritation, not as close shave.

Dissapointing.

You either need a completely square face, very light growth or skin like Mr. Fantastic to get a close shave with an electric.

I get a pretty heavy beard growth, usually a 2:00 shadow kinda guy…never could find an electric razor that really worked well.

Finally just grew a beard. It’s easier.

I have been using a braun now for five years. It isn’t as close of a shave as a razor but fast. The thing
with an electric razor is there is a break in period. The irritation goes away after a few weeks. The hair has
to used to the foil razor.

I tried it for two weeks, because of the “break-in period”. It worked fine on the face and chin, but never got close on the neck (and irritated like heck). So, I’d have visible stubble on the neck (sometimes in pacthes), and smooth face.

I’m resolved to shaving every other day with a razor and it works well enough. Granted the second day I have noticable stubble, but I can’t shave every day, and still wear a tie, without significant irritation.

I do admit the self-cleaning aspect of the electric was cool. But I find with the new fusion razors, shaving goes really fast, as it cuts close without razor burn. You just have to replace the blades every week.

I’ve had pretty good luck with Braun, and had terrible luck with the rotary-type stuff.

Also, Lectric Shave (or generic equivalent) is a fantastic product. That stuff is magic… slap some on, shave half a minute later, and the razor just glides. With an electric razor I’ve also found I have a better experience with drier skin than with moister skin, so for me at least it’s far better in winter than any other alternative (other than growing a beard)
