Going to be in CDA this Saturday to ride and wanted to know where the new bike course goes. Anyone here know? Wanted to know if it was safe to ride, and where turn around is, etc…
I was out there two weeks ago on the “new course”. Is it official, that the new course is set and approved?
The course went out 95 to a turnaround point (near the turn to the casino) and back. It was bloody hairy out there with all of the traffic blasting by on the highway. Also, the sides of the road are incredibly junky. I blew a tubular on the way back, and was surprised that it didn’t happen earlier. I just can’t see training out there under those conditions. The locals that do the race are really pissed.
There is one 1+ mile hill that is nasty, and you have to go over it twice. Going down the back side is “special” with all the crap in the road and the big trucks smoking by you.

Im assuming that there is a new course. Everybody I’ve talked to seems to think that it will be changed for sure, but they could be wrong. Sounds like pretty shitty riding, but I’m sure it’ll get swept for race and hopefully a couple months to train. I’ll most likely not do it if there’s going to be a good chance I’m going to flat. I do know 95 pretty well, and that hill is a good one, never did it on a bike though. I’ll just stick to old IM route.
