Any Cannondale Retailer lurk here? If so..I have a question

Is this the same frame/fork as this year’s Ironman 6000?

Is this a custom paint job, clear coated Alum or simply a custom job for pros and Faris?

2006 model?

And…the money question…can you buy as a frameset, when and how much?

thanks!

This frame, or the retail version of it (this may be custom geo) is available from Cannondale retailers. Earlier in the year the Saeco color scheme was available in the Speed Shadow/Slice frameset from Cannondale retailers.

I can tell you first hand, having done about 9 triathlons on one last year, these are quite nice bikes.

Hi, I am involved with Cutting Edge Sports in Boulder, Colorado. Yes, this is the same frame as the Ironman 6000, with the SI Bottom Bracket. It is a Slice Aero Frame with a Slice Fork. This paint is not available to the public to my knowledge, I think it is a clear coat over aluminum. I just got the frameset myself last week (sweet by the way) and the retail is $1399.99. They are available right now, though they will probably need to build it once you order it, so it might take 2-3 weeks to actually receive it. There are rumours that Cannondale might have some sort of custom paint program within the next year or so, though I begged to have my frameset painted plain red or blue and was told they could not do it at this point. Mine is red and white and without the Ironman logo (probably another reason Cunego’s bike is a custom paintjob was to avoid the IM logo and add the sponsor logos). Additionally, mine is a traditional BB shell, you must specify whether you want a traditional, which would allow you to use an English BB, or the SI BB shell, which means you can (and must) use the Hollowgram Cranks. Let me know if you have any other questions. I absolutely love mine so far.

Thanks for the replies. I doubt my LBS would want to mess around with a special order, so I’ll give you two a call in a few days.

Long story short…I want this frameset for this year in a 56cm (54cm tt) in standard bb. I have a buyer for my bike and my dream bike is coming next year from Veltec.

I absolutely hate red or blue frames, but could make due or have it changed.

why the standard BB? I have a sweet Hollowgram 54cm frame up for sale as soon right now. Hollowgram is lighter and stiffer than anything else out there and you never feel like you need to get the latest and greatest new cranks so it even saves you money;)

But if you are interested PM me. It’s a 2004 frame with the blue wave paint job. Same frame as they are still using with the Speed Shadow wheel cutout. Frame and fork only (nice Reynolds full carbon Ouzo Pro Aero), or with parts including Dura-ace 10spd rr derailer, Ultegra frt, Ultegra brakes, Thomson Masterpiece post, Brand New VisionTech aerobars… Gorgeous and LIGHT TT bike. Old sponsor went under, new one doesn’t do Cannondale.

In a stunning show of my ignorance, I’m going to ask why this bike doesn’t have bar-end shifters. I hate when I expose myself for the complete newbie that I am.

J

I can’t speak for Cunego, but folks use STIish shifters in TT for several reasons…but most of which I don’t understand. Heck…at the Giro prolouge, some folks were riding single speeds and fixed gear!

  1. Cheap (for pros)/ readily available

  2. Concentrate on power, not on shifting

  3. More familiar with STI up/down shifting

  4. Campy looks darn clean w/o the side derail cable, perhaps more aero?

  5. Rapid gear changes occur in the corners when folks are on their hoods (perhaps the main reason)

Makes sense to me.

Thanks

J

There’s also the possibility that there weren’t ANY shifters on his bike (can’t see well enough to say in that picture). See O’Grady’s bike:

Short, straight, flat. Why carry around shifters that you won’t use?
