I’m looking to buy new road bike for easy / long / hilly ride. Still got my tt bike for race / intensity session
Looking for used bike and looking for aethos that seems by a “good” bike for easy / long session on the bike.
Any aethos owner here ? How did you feel with the bike ?
Wondering if people having them feel a difference with a basic aero bike ? (Canyon aeroad rim brake owner ATM)
I love my Aethos. It’s extremely light and comfortable.
I have it configured to be used as both a road bike and a pseudo-TT bike (i.e. I can add aerobars and a forward seat because it uses standard sized components). This allows me to use the bike at events that have both draft legal and non-draft legal races (e.g. USAT Nationals).
I have the S-works version, paired with a set of ENVE 3.4AR, and SRAM Force AXS. I would say, in that setup, it’s a very much a dedicated climbing bike: very light going up and quite stable going down. A couple of things: the geo of Aethos is the same as Tarmac so it’s quite racy, i.e. long reach and low stack, second, the bike is not that comfortable. Even with 28mm tires (Conti5k tubeless, actual width 30mm), it’s not the most compliant bike out there. You definitely feel the road imperfections. For long and flat-ish roads, I am not sure it’s the bike I would use. For that, I found myself much prefer the Trek Emonda, definitely more comfortable and predictable for daily training.
Strange. The compliance is a selling point to most people I’ve talked to who bought the Aethos.
For a dedicated climbing bike Force AXS is quite heavy. I would recommend Di2 for anyone building a climbing bike. How much does it weigh with Force AXS?

Yeah I feel the exact opposite. I find the ride incredibly smooth and compliant, and far more comfortable than my previous bike (Giant TCR). I don’t have the S-Works frame but I can’t imagine that makes a huge difference in ride feel. Running Roval C38’s with Pirelli PZero 28 tubeless.
I test ride Specialized bikes quite often and the Aethos is one of the nicest bikes I’ve ridden. Very comfortable, responsive, ride quality is smoother than the Tarmac and climbs like a rocketgoat
