I’m thinking about moving from a 2x setup using Osymetric chainrings to either a 1x osymetric chainring or 1x AeroCoach Arc chainring. Any experienced feedback for the Arc would great.
I have been riding with the 58-tooth ARC for two years now (5000 miles-ish) and combined with a standard etap 11-spd in the back. Always with a waxed chain and the chainring doesn’t really show any sign of wear yet. I have been ridden it in all kinds of weather. I don’t use any chainguide or catcher.
It looks really good on my Felt IA in black/white.
Only dropped my chain once - but fair to say I hit a bumb on a downhill when changing gears.
thank you for posting this here, was about to ask the same question
.
The rings are beautiful that’s for sure. I bought a 58/44 combo for my Felt IA1 Disc, but it wouldn’t fit even with the FD spacer. So I have some brand new rings for cheap if anyone wants them. They’re for SRAM Red Quarq hidden bolt, 130bcd.
I’m very interest in your 58/44 combo, I think they will fit my bike. Not quite sure how the forum works, i’ll try and send you a direct message? Cheers
Experience of 2 ARCs here.
54T on my TT bike, Ultegra Di2 8050 RD. One dropped chain per ~5k km of usage, don’t remember the exact details, but not in the race. Loaned the bike for a fellow female triathlete (who from power perspective is definitely weaker than me), she broke one tooth. Got it fixed at a reputable carbon repair shop at the end of this season, haven’t ridden the bike after that.
58T on my aero flat racing road bike, 1T setup, with Di2 RX 815 RD. For 4k km, it was completely fine, and then suddenly started dropping the chain in the middle of the races to the outside of the crank, no matter if the clutch was enabled or not. Chain wasn’t anywhere close worn, neither could I find any visible wear on the teeth. Was never able to replicate this in training, and also never figured out the pattern of events after it happened, as it seemingly wasn’t associated with any bumps on the road, and neither with rear shifting. However, after it happened in the 3rd race in a row, ditched the chainring and went back to 2x setup. Now have set up Garbaruk oval 1x front, we’ll see what happens with that one.
TBH, I’ve had half a dozen various Aerocoach products, and all of them have developed weird issues at one point of fairly limited usage. Maybe just not the brand playing well with me.
